As a Capital Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
  • Lead capital engineering projects that support Growth, Cost Reduction, EHS improvement, and Equipment/Facility Renewal.
  • Lead diverse teams including electrical, facilities, design, technical experts, and operations to deliver project expectations.
  • Utilize project engineering fundamentals (scope, budget, schedule, forecasting, communication, financial analysis) to deliver the best outcome for 3M.
  • Leads engineering projects through multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Integrates manufacturing and laboratory business issues/needs into project planning.
  • Controls project costs and schedules, and presents project status and results to business partners, suppliers, team members and appropriate management.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) AND three (3) year(s) of project management in a private, public, government or military environment.

OR
  • Associates degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) AND five (5) year(s) of project management in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
  • History of successful execution of projects including final performance in the factory.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present project plans and status to management.
  • Team player with the ability to positively contribute to a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management and Mechanical Integrity industry practices.

Work location:
  • This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Cottage Grove, Cottage Grove MN.

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
Relocation: May be authorized
