TD Thornton is seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Analyst to support cost, schedule, and project performance management across a portfolio of major construction projects within the electric utilities sector.
This role combines hands-on Primavera P6 scheduling with financial forecasting, cost analysis, project controls reporting, risk management, and project governance. The Senior Project Controls Analyst will work closely with project managers and cross-functional stakeholders to identify performance trends, maintain accurate forecasts, and provide leadership with clear visibility into project cost and schedule performance.
The ideal candidate has strong technical project controls experience and can independently analyze project data, identify potential issues, and communicate meaningful insights and recommendations to project and senior leadership.
Your Day-to-Day Activities
  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Develop and maintain work breakdown structures, dependencies, resource allocations, cost loading, and schedule baselines.
  • Prepare project financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and cost analysis.
  • Support project managers with business cases, budgets, forecasts, and contingency management.
  • Track and analyze cost and schedule performance, including variances and emerging trends.
  • Manage project accruals, financial tracking, and cost validation activities.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations that provide clear insight into project performance.
  • Support contract administration and change-order processes.
  • Identify project risks and assess potential cost and schedule impacts.
  • Prepare concise project updates and presentations for senior management.
  • Facilitate project controls and performance meetings and track follow-up actions.
  • Maintain project documentation in accordance with governance and audit requirements.
  • Provide clear, data-driven project updates to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate meeting minutes, action logs, financial records, and project controls documentation.
The Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant project controls, scheduling, cost controls, or related experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Primavera P6, including dependencies, baselines, cost loading, resource loading, and resource leveling.
  • Experience with project financial analysis, including forecasting, accruals, budgets, and cost variance analysis.
  • Ability to analyze project cost and schedule data and identify risks, trends, and potential performance issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate project controls data into clear updates for project managers and leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
You'll Stand Out If You Have
  • Proficiency with SAP for project financial management and reporting.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting electric utility construction or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience supporting a portfolio of capital construction projects.
  • PMP or comparable project management/project controls certification.
