As a successful candidate, you will:

Develop and maintain project cost information, maintain planned and actual cost and commitment schedules. Oversee trends and changes to the project budget and forecast cost estimates. Provide estimates for project and purchase order/contract funds authorization along with variation statements of actual versus budget commitments.

FEL3 data verification and set-up planning

Finalize coding of all detailed estimate line items using baselined project control budget (confirmed by Lead Cost Controller) in order to establish package budgets.

Project schedule monitoring and updates

Using project schedule and progress reports: obtain progress info and generate data and curves for each cost profile.

Cost control

  • Establish with the assistance of the Lead Cost Controller asset management methodology, based on client asset management philosophy (asset register).
  • Produce asset capitalization report in accordance with client requirements.
  • Assign budget for procurement packages, perform budget reconciliation or scope and pricing and produce reconciliation statements.
  • Record and maintain commitments based on procurement contracts, contract amendments, contract change notices, PO revisions.
  • Attend periodic reviews and establish and maintain forecasts for all packages and ensure full coding, based on EPCM status report, expenditures (ex Project Accountant) and project changes/trends (e.g. Trend and Change Coordinator).
  • Forecast project contingency requirements, escalation, forex, currencies etc.
  • Import detailed actual cost and commitment data into cost system and run complete detailed baseline cost report by package.
  • Participate in the trending and change management process and incorporate approved trends into the project estimate at completion.
  • Update and maintain budget with approved PCNs.
  • Produce and review with Lead Cost Controller cost report and analyze variances.
  • Generate data and curves for each cost profile (baselines and periodic updates).
  • Update budget, commitment, forecast, payment and cost statement for monthly report.

EPCM services progress and performance measurement

  • Obtain progress info from EPCM Controller and update EPCM status report.
  • Attend periodic reviews and establish and maintain forecasts for all packages.

You bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering or related discipline or appropriate project related experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Cost Controller in a multidiscipline project environment.
  • Sound technical knowledge in a multi-discipline environment.
  • Good knowledge of budgeting, forecasting final costs, cash flows and estimating.
  • Overview of procurement, contracts, quantity surveying, planning, scheduling and engineering processes and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Estimating and tendering processes.
  • Good knowledge of project management principles.
