CONTROLLER
Salary Range: $70000 to $85000
Location: Bergen County, NJ
A dynamic financial services firm is seeking an in-house Controller to manage the firm's day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining accurate books and records for the firm and its client entities, supporting tax preparation, and producing internal financial reports.
**REPORTS DIRECTLY TO CEO. Looking for a person with business maturity and ability to interact with senior staff, outside prestigious clients, results oriented, calm demeanor.
Will have access to firms financial info, so someone with the highest levels of confidentiality. High profile job.
Qualifications:
  • 5-+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in financial services or professional services
  • Strong hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting
  • Solid understanding of AP, AR, billing, and general ledger
  • Experience assisting with tax preparation (firm or partnership returns a plus) **IN HOUSE NOT FOR CLIENTS
  • Proficient with accounting systems and Excel
  • Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Able to work independently in a small, fast-paced environment
  • CPA preferred; equivalent experience considered
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and oversee books and records for the firm and assigned client entities
  • Record and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Process billing, generate monthly billing reports, and track collections
  • Handle bill payments, check runs, and general disbursements
  • Assist with the preparation of firm tax returns and related schedules
  • Prepare internal financial statements, reports, and reconciliations
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial data
  • Work closely with firm leadership and external accountants as needed
