Position Description
We currently offer an excellent opportunity for a Business Technology Manager - Aviation Insurance in our New York City Branch Office. The successful candidate will lead the support strategy of, and theoptimization of the organization's core business technologies primarily builton the Guidewire Cloud and focus on ensuring the platform, its applications,and underlying infrastructure to enable USAIG's operational excellence. It isintegral to be a hands-on technology leader who can translate business needsinto scalable, secure, and reliable technical solutions. Deep technical expertise coupled with strongmanagerial skills are necessary to lead the support team responsible formaintaining a steady state while having the foresight to continually enhancethe organization's IT capabilities by engaging in and performing duties and responsibilities which include but arenot limited to the following:
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure that USAIG's primary Business applications built on the Guidewire Cloud platform maintain high availability, reliability, and stability
- Lead system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations to improve performance and user experience
- Manage the Internal and External Support teams
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and implementation partners as well as key resources from USAIG's parent company
- With assistance from USAIG's parent company, negotiate contracts, evaluate performance, and ensure adherence to service-level agreements
- Maintain a forward looking technology roadmap tailored to the frontline business needs
- Collaborate with parent company cybersecurity team along with external vendors ensure systems meet security and regulatory standards
- Serve as a technical advisor to business units, helping them leverage tools effectively
- Oversee technology risk assessments, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity readiness
- Fully comprehend and make sound business decisions that are in the best interest of the organization's unique business dynamic and align with the intricacies of a managing general agency that underwrites aviation insurance on behalf of a pool of member insurance companies
- Perform miscellaneous projects and administrative functions as assigned
Role Qualifications and Experience
- 10 years of relevant work experience, including past experience in application support and/or operations with vast and recent experience as a technical lead and manager needed
- BA/BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems preferred
- Prior Insurance industry experience, ideally in supporting Guidewire's Policy Center, Claim Center and Billing Center desired
- Solid experience with cloud environments such as Azure and AWS preferable
- Capable of strategic thinking with strong technical depth needed
- Robust understanding of technical concepts such as programming (Gosu, Java, SQL) necessary
- Strong knowledge of industry issues and trends required to champion a culture of continuous improvement and digital enablement is essential
- Ability to consistently perform the responsibilities of the position while being resourceful and wearing many hats necessary
- Proficiency in balancing innovation with operational stability required
- Ability to lead both high level strategy and hands on execution essential
- Adept at working well under time constraints and ability to meet deadlines required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed
- Independent thinker possessing self motivation, detail orientation, solid organization skills and ability to prioritize projects and work assignments needed.
- Willingness to take professional development, insurance, IT and aviation related courses necessary
- Attainment of relevant certifications, licenses and continuing education to enhance the performance of job requirements necessary
- Ability to work from the Company's physical office location on a hybrid basis is needed
- Flexibility to travel (someovernight travel) required
Salary Range
140,000.00 - 200,000.00 USD
Theannual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around theU.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials,education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance,skills and/or training.
