Job description

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.
Under general supervision of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Associate performs duties related to Business Technology Management and Client Services, including, but not limited to, Business Analysis and Performance Management; Asset Management; Application Support; End User Device Support; and IT Training.
All eligible applicants may apply. A training and development assignment may be considered. SROA/Surplus candidates are encouraged to apply.
The position(s) being advertised may be subject to allocation approval by the Human Resources Branch. Fingerprint/Criminal Record Clearance is required before hire. The Salary Range shown is the minimum and maximum for a full-time appointment. Moving and relocation expenses will not be reimbursed for this position.

Working Conditions
Part-time telework available. Telework requires California residency. This position offers hybrid telework opportunities; however, telework arrangements are subject to change at any time based on State & departmental operational needs. Employees may be required to report to the office as necessary.
The incumbent performs work indoors in a climate-controlled environment under artificial lighting. The incumbent must carry a cell phone and respond to calls after hours to lead multi-disciplinary IT professionals' team(s) in organizing, analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving IT system problems; may travel to various DMV locations to provide expertise for IT operations.

Identity and Access Management Support Understanding of least-privilege principles and ability to help enforce access controls. Familiarity with MFA, SSO, and user account provisioning. 3. Compliance and Governance Awareness Knowledge of common compliance standards (e.g., NIST, CIS benchmarks). Ability to assist in implementing AWS security controls to meet organizational requirements. 4. Basic Automation and Scripting Ability to write simple scripts in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for routine tasks like monitoring or patching. Interest in learning automation to improve security operations. 5. Network and Application Security Basics Understanding of VPCs, subnets, security groups, and NACLs. Awareness of WAF, API Gateway security, and zero-trust concepts. 6. Logging and Monitoring Support Ability to help centralize AWS logs and work with tools like Splunk or Sentinel.
