Project Manager Engineer
Location: Greater Madison Area, WI (100% On-site)
Contract: 6+ Months with Strong Potential for Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday-Friday8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Automated Systems, Inc. (ASI) is seeking an experienced Project Manager Engineer to support capital and operational projects at our client's pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Greater Madison area. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-impact projects within a regulated GMP manufacturing environment.
In this role, you will partner with cross-functional project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and right the first time. You will be responsible for managing project controls, including cost forecasting, budget tracking, schedule management, contractor coordination, and project reporting, while providing clear communication and leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, excels at leading meetings and coordinating multiple stakeholders, and has strong experience managing project timelines, financial forecasting, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced engineering or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Lead development and maintenance of integrated project schedules, resource plans, and cost baselines
โ€ข Lead cross-functional project teams and drive accountability across Engineering, Quality, Validation, and Operations
โ€ข Own project reporting and ensure accurate forecasting of cost and schedule performance
โ€ข Establish and manage capital expenditure (CapEx) requests, including cost tracking and earned value management
โ€ข Drive corrective actions for variances in scope, schedule, and cost performance
โ€ข Partner with Procurement to support sourcing strategy, bid evaluation, and vendor alignment
โ€ข Coordinate and ensure project readiness and turnover to operations, including documentation handoff
โ€ข Interface with internal stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and site/network leadership
Requirements
Requirements:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Biochemical, or related Engineering discipline
โ€ข Minimum 5+ years of experience leading capital projects from initiation through execution and turnover in a GMP or highly regulated environment
โ€ข Strong experience with project controls, including cost forecasting, schedule management, and earned value management
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams
โ€ข Experience working with vendors, contractors, and procurement teams on project execution
โ€ข Experience working in a pharmaceutical, biologics, or other regulated manufacturing environment
โ€ข Preferred exposure to bioprocessing systems, clean utilities, and GMP facility design
