Job Description
Avery Dennison is seeking an Operations Manager to join the Greenfield Operations Team. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role leads the Coating, Finishing, Receiving, and Shipping areas of the facility. The Operations Manager is responsible for directing manufacturing departments and leading teams to meet safety, quality, production, and cost reduction objectives. This is a people-focused leadership position with five direct reports, requiring the individual to coach and develop team members, maintain operational budgets, and foster departmental cross-collaboration to maintain business success.
Key Responsibilities
Position Status: This is a full-time, on-site role located at the manufacturing facility in Greenfield, IN.
  • Supervise operations teams directly in attaining production, safety, quality, service, productivity, cost reduction, and other department goals.
  • Determine operational requirements for equipment, materials, process flow, staffing, and scheduling to optimize daily facility operations.
  • Lead the implementation and execution of site continuous improvement and Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) initiatives to promote improved operational and business results.
  • Coach, train, and develop staff by establishing clear goals, providing regular feedback, and conducting performance evaluations to build capability.
  • Participate in establishing annual operating plans, manage department operating budgets, and ensure compliance with local regulations and corporate policies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field preferred; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in an operations or manufacturing environment, with 5+ years of direct manufacturing leadership and people management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop individuals, building strong cross-functional relationships while effectively managing boundaries.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and active listening) with the flexibility to adjust schedules to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification highly desired, with a proven ability to drive continuous improvement and promote corporate values.
