Job description

The Business Development Officer plays a key role in driving the Credit Union’s membership and loan growth through strategic business development with local employer groups, community relations, financial education, and public relations activities. This position requires flexibility in working hours, with evening and weekends events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following non-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned. All duties are to be performed in

compliance with applicable laws, regulations and Credit Union policies and procedures.

  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the business development and community relations plan, including budget projections for events, with input from Director of Branch Experience and branch managers
  • Identifies and solicits prospective Select Employee Groups (SEG) and fosters ongoing relationships to build membership and loan growth
  • Maintains relationships with key officials in specific SEG, educational, and community organizations to increase membership, account relationships, and develop cooperative marketing opportunities
  • Recommends, creates, and implements programs and promotions that partner with SEGs and related community organizations
  • Coordinates and negotiates sponsorship opportunities and event participation
  • Conducts regularly scheduled on-site events at SEGs, schools, benefit fairs, and related organizations
  • Conducts research, analyzes complaints, and resolves issues received from key contacts that impact member service or the Credit Union's reputation.
  • Delivers credit union presentations and teaches financial literacy programs
  • Assists in coordinating and managing public relations efforts, including branch grand openings, educational and community involvement, and special events
  • Participates in proposing business development-related materials to support membership growth and community involvement
  • Represents the Credit Union at community meetings, Chamber functions, and special events
  • Analyzes existing and potential needs of employee groups, makes appropriate recommendations, and fulfills needs as appropriate
  • May serve on internal and external committees as needed or deemed beneficial to the Credit Union, including community action committees, task forces, and other leadership roles as approved
  • Aids Branch Managers with respect to financial education sessions and group liaison activities
  • Night and weekend events are required

Event Responsibilities:

  • Host and represent Frontwave Credit Union booth(s) at community events and the Frontwave Arena.
  • Engage with event attendees, providing information about Frontwave’s services and benefits.
  • Distribute promotional materials and giveaways.
  • Assist in setting up and tearing down event booths and displays.
  • Assist branch goals where applicable.
  • Capture photos and videos for social media and marketing purposes.
  • Maintain a positive and energetic attitude while interacting with the public.
  • Provide feedback and insights from events to improve future engagements.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Supervises staff in accordance with Credit Union policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviews and recommends qualified applicants for employment.
  • Assigns duties and work schedules to ensure efficiency.
  • Performance management activities, including annual appraisals
  • Reviews, adjusts and approves time sheets biweekly to Human Resources for payroll processing.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Marketing or related disciplines, plus two to five years of proven, hands-on experience related to sales, business development or community relations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Outgoing and friendly personality.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Reliable transportation to various event locations.

  • Onboarding: Expertise in onboarding new members and business banking clients, with a focus on driving membership and loan growth. This includes understanding member/client needs, providing comprehensive onboarding experiences, and ensuring smooth transitions to foster long-term relationships.
  • Growth Mindset: Capability to develop and implement growth strategies that align with the company’s goals – membership, loan and deposit growth for both consumer and business.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to effectively convey ideas and negotiate employee perk programs/presentations.
  • Ability to understand business objectives, incorporate feedback, and produce solutions that communicate clearly and represent the brand.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Salary range: $71,884 - $107,826
