Job description

23andMe is looking for a Director, Business Development and Strategy. In this role, you will lead the effort to initiate and grow partnerships that bring the value of 23andMe’s proprietary predictive intelligence to the clinical setting. You will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and closing deals with modern B2B2C partners (such as wellness hubs, longevity clinics, and specialized healthtech platforms), healthcare systems, and employers, to integrate our genomic insights into their clinical care stacks.

What You’ll Do

Serve as an internal and external face of the company, leveraging a network of healthcare connections to manage and close a pipeline of deals. Help develop and lead our B2B2C partnership strategy across a cross-functional team including Product, Engineering, Medical Affairs, R&D, and Finance. Transition 23andMe from transactional sales toward recurring value through longitudinal intelligence refreshes that keep patient data live as science evolves. Drive the identification of potential customers and conduct competitive landscape assessments across the healthcare sector. Lead strategic planning, market assessments, and partner outreach to secure collaborations. Oversee the development of financial terms and the contracting process to ensure long-term, scalable partnership growth. Facilitate robust internal feasibility assessments of potential partnerships, using sound judgment and data to drive internal consensus on prospective deals. Manage alliance relationships and provide ongoing oversight of partnerships to ensure long-term value creation. Attend industry conferences and actively engage in networking to develop and maintain high-level industry contacts. Use a data-driven approach to define success metrics and evaluate the impact of clinical partnership efforts.

What You’ll Bring

10+ years of experience in business development, with 5+ years in a senior strategic role delivering financial value in the healthcare industry. Demonstrated ability to create a robust pipeline of partnerships and a track record of sourcing and closing deals with positive results. Strong network of contacts within healthcare systems and healthtech community is a plus Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence through persuasion and build consensus across a matrixed organization. Deep understanding of the business needs of the modern healthcare industry and a passion for prioritizing the needs of patients. Ability to work from 23andMe's office in Palo Alto, CA a minimum of 3 days per week, with a requirement for some travel.

Pay Transparency

23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. San Francisco Bay Area Base Pay Range $230,000-$280,000
