Position Summary:
The Business Development-SP Manager position at VSS will be responsible for one or both of the following:
  • Staff management position residing part time at and supervising, one or more, combined On-Site Vallen Safety Center storeroom operation. They are responsible for leading the operations function at the local level, with full accountability of running the day to day storeroom operations and achieving customer expectations. This position monitors warehouse, administrative, customer service and technical services activities of a team of 1-5 direct reports. The position identifies and prioritizes inventory and service improvement opportunities and creates plans for implementation while ensuring the highest levels of quality assurance and quality control are applied
  • Responsible for business development of safety services business within an assigned customer deck and/or specific territory with a strategic focus on increasing Vallen's market share. The position is responsible for performance in areas of sales growth, gross margin enhancement and profitability. This role sells solutions by presenting broad based consultative insight into key solutions, services, products or combinations of each in accordance with sales strategy developed in conjunction with management. BDM-SP's create solutions to solve customers' real -- world challenges and concerns. Associates advance sales activities and strategies, identifying leads and opportunities, while developing and fostering long-term customer relationships.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (May include some or all the following. Other duties may be assigned)
  • Staff management duties include, but are not limited to interviewing, selecting, hiring, coaching, counseling, training, delegating work assignments, disciplining associates, implementing and sponsoring Health, Safety & Environment processes and all other business compliance standards and regulations. Develop/ establish a motivating environment.
  • Responsible for the execution of customer-focused operations and strategy for the location, local strategy should be built to support the overall business and functional strategy developed by Vallen leadership.
  • Takes appropriate action for optimizing inventory performance, in collaboration with sales, marketing, manufacturing procurement and inventory. Works with the team to ensure, procurement aligns to supply and sourcing strategies, influence demand, shaping activities which help improve profit, customer service, and reduce inventory.
  • Acts as the liaison between Vallen Safety Services and the customer; interfaces and collaborates with the customer for coordination of site scope requests and desired job activities.
  • Prepares customize sales presentations following Vallen's solution selling guidelines and tools.
  • Performs market research and identifies prospective customers; accurately forecasts opportunities; develops and manages a prospect pipeline; follows-up on sales leads and moves potential customers through the sales cycle to generate revenue for the company.
  • Establishes and maintains effective customer relationships to understand customer needs, promote customer understanding of full solutions/services/products offering, and align to provide a solution. Ensures a positive customer experience throughout the sales process.
  • Develops & implements tactical sales plans to accommodate strategic corporate goals.
  • Travel through assigned territory to grow our safety business within existing and new customer accounts.
  • Develop list of high potential customers within the assigned territory, in conjunction with VSS VP and Director of Sales.
  • Achieve market penetration in accordance with goals.
  • Coordinate growth of IS, Corporate, Strategic and target customers with VSS Leadership.

Staff Management Responsibilities:
Immediate supervision over a unit, section or department where most of the time is spent assigning, reviewing, checking work and eliminating ordinary difficulties. Recommends candidates for hiring, termination; prepares and conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews and applies company policies.
Job Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements:
Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and customer service skills.
  • Fire Alarm License (FAL) and a RME-I NICET Level 2 license (Required)
  • Proven ability to mentor and motivate associates within a small team.
  • The attitude, drive and aptitude to develop, grow and manage a sales territory with strategic focus on increasing Vallen's market share and profitability.
  • Ability to present to customers using awareness, judgment and quick decisions skills to identify and loop in relevant stakeholders, proficient in presenting to various levels within a customer or vendor's organization.
  • Willingness to gain a deep understanding of customers' business and the fortitude to inspire customers to explore opportunities beyond what they are currently doing.
  • Ability to analyze data from multiple tools to gain understanding and achieve goals.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong planning, organizational, time management, problem solving and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with MS-Office products (PPT, Excel, Word) and the technical aptitude to learn all company specific programs and software applications.
  • Excellent professional attitude and sales integrity.
