Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Finance Business Development Associate to join our Corporate Finance and Business Development team in Dallas, TX for the Hunt Oil and Gas Company. This role will support acquisition and divestiture (A&D) activities, strategic planning initiatives, and financial analysis across the portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in upstream oil & gas finance, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and external partners.
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in acquisition and divestiture ("A&D") activities and analysis
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models and economic analyses for A&D opportunities, capital investments, and strategic initiatives
  • Develop analytical tools and decision-support materials to enhance performance and strategy within existing business units
  • Work closely with the Strategic Planning group to incorporate A&D initiatives into short-term/long-term planning analyses
  • Interact frequently with industry partners and third-party capital providers
  • Research for information related to current A&D projects and general market trends
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Required Experience:
  • 2-4 years of upstream oil & gas investment banking, corporate finance, M&A, or related experience is required
  • Knowledge of the upstream oil and gas sector
  • Advanced financial modeling and presentation preparation skills (proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Exposure to reserve-based valuation, economic modeling, or transaction diligence processes
  • Experience preparing materials for executive leadership or investment decision-making
  • Familiarity with upstream data sources and industry analytics tools
