Job Overview

The Assistant, Brand Management & New Business Development supports the execution of brand strategy, portfolio management, collaboration, and special project initiatives across Macy's Private Brands. This role serves as a key organizational partner to the Brand Management & New Business Development team, helping manage project coordination, team communications, meeting logistics, reporting, and administrative processes that support the successful execution of strategic initiatives.

The Assistant works closely with cross-functional teams including Merchandising, Design, Marketing, Product Development, Sourcing, Stores, and external partners to ensure projects remain organized, timelines are maintained, and materials are prepared accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about brands, retail, and collaboration.

What You Will Do

Support the Brand Management & New Business Development team across Brand Innovation, Collaborations, New Business Development, Packaging, Direct Imports, Backstage Sourcing and Special Projects initiatives.

Coordinate meeting logistics, agendas, notes, action items, and follow-up communications across team projects.

Manage project trackers, timelines, calendars, and organizational tools to ensure teams remain aligned on key milestones and deliverables.

Conduct competitive shopping and brand audits across Macy’s Private Brands and key competitors to gather insights on assortment, pricing, presentation, customer experience, and marketplace trends.

Maintain and organize Brand Management & New Business Development team resources including presentations, reports, meeting recaps, training materials, and shared team documents.

Assist in the creation and formatting of presentations, project updates, and meeting materials for leadership reviews.

Compile and organize research related to customer trends, competitors, partnerships, collaborations, and marketplace activity.

Support brand education initiatives through coordination of training materials, event logistics, and internal communications.

Maintain brand books, toolkits, templates, and supporting resources to ensure materials remain current and accessible.

Coordinate sample requests, approvals, vendor communications, meeting scheduling, and project documentation as needed.

Track project action items and communicate updates, risks, and next steps to project stakeholders.

Support collaboration and special project execution through administrative coordination and production support.

Assist with budget tracking, invoice processing, expense management, and project-related administrative tasks.

Help prepare reports, dashboards, trackers, and routine business updates for the team.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional partners throughout the organization.

Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships and supports authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.

Who You Are

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, Communications, Retail, or a related field.

0-2 years of professional experience in retail, project coordination, administrative support, marketing, merchandising, or related fields.

Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.

Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.

Curious about brands, retail, fashion, partnerships, and customer experience.
