About The Role:

Business Development Analyst is responsible for supporting critical commercial, analytical, and cross-functional processes. This role plays an essential part in managing commercial data, project visibility and financial accuracy across multiple customer workstreams. The analyst works closely with Business Development, Category Insights, Commercialization, Finance, R&D, and Supply Chain,

Approximately 10% travel expected and will report to the Sr Manager of Business Development

Responsibilities:

Business Development & Lead Management
  • Help develop and communicate strategies that drive profitable growth across co-manufacturing, food service, private label, and branded customer portfolios
  • Support sales and business manager through RFP and RFI cycles, providing cross-functional support from initiation through submission
  • Manage active customer business by conducting financial and performance analysis to identify growth opportunities and recommend actions that improve customer and product profitability
  • Manage inbound lead intake and ensure new opportunities are accurately entered and tracked in CRM
2) Commercial Reporting & Analysis
  • Develop and execute pricing strategies to increase profitability
  • Manage annual price-increase cycles, track contract timelines, and prepare updated pricing to address inflation-driven changes
  • Analyze customer-level sales, margin drivers, and P&L leak points and partner with account teams on corrective actions
  • Prepare commercial reports, including volume projections, forecasts, and performance updates
  • Monitor raw material, true-up process, packaging, and operational cost inputs; maintain cost cards; and review yield/scrap variances versus contracted BOM expectations
  • Participate in AOP (Annual Operating Plan) planning process and ensure accuracy on volume and pricing
3) Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Partner with R&D, Category Insights, Sales, Commercialization, Finance, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Operations, Procurement, and Logistics to manage project timelines and deliverables
  • Support commercialization for new product launches and lifecycle changes by ensuring commercial accuracy and timely execution
  • Participate in internal and customer calls to support issue resolution, clarify next steps, and ensure timely follow-through
  • Support the development of QBR materials and other customer-facing documents
4) Documentation, Systems & Commercial Data Management
  • Maintain organized commercial documents, trackers, cost cards, dashboards, and performance files; reconcile trial expenses and ensure proper billing
  • Support internal planning processes by providing accurate commercial inputs for forecasts, risks & opportunities assessments, and internal visibility tools
  • Support documentation and development on Executive presentations.

Key Performance Measures:

  • Accuracy and timeliness of commercial data and documentation (cost cards, trackers, pricing files, and project visibility tools)
  • Quality and responsiveness of pricing and profitability analyses, including updates supporting annual price increases and margin improvement initiatives
  • On-time movement of projects from intake through commercialization, supported by accurate CRM updates and completed action items
  • Effectiveness of cross-functional coordination and communication with R&D, Commercialization, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Sales
  • Quality, clarity, and completeness of customer-facing deliverables, including QBR materials, capability documents, and commercial presentations

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, lookups, modeling, and the ability to analyze complex datasets
  • Strong analytical capability, including interpreting costing, contribution margin components, and customer or product performance data
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and ability to create clear, concise, and commercially relevant reports or presentations for internal and customer use
  • Experience using CRM systems (Dynamics 365, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) to manage pipeline, opportunities, and commercial data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional customer-facing presence and the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel domestically, including overnight travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • 1+ years of experience in business development, commercial operations, finance, supply chain, project coordination, or related work within the food/CPG industry
  • Experience collaborating with Finance, Commercialization, Supply Chain, R&D, Operations, Procurement, and Sales teams
  • Prior experience maintaining commercial dashboards, cost cards, trackers, forecasts, or customer performance datasets
  • Comfort analyzing production, cost, yield, and margin data to support commercial recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate issues and support resolution with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently with strong follow-through, accountability, and adaptability
