Overall Purpose

The IT Business Continuity Analyst plays a critical role in the administration and management of the Technical Business Continuity Program. The role assists in ensuring the stability, integrity, availability and operation of IT business functions and information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by working closely with IT and Business Continuity Management to assist in developing and documenting sustainable disaster recovery processes, procedures, and testing controls. The ideal candidate would apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills within a team to help identify, communicate, enhance, and document overall operational resilience with regards to availability and processing integrity.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the planning and documentation of the Information Technology (IT) Business Continuity Program to ensure the organization can respond to and recover from system disruptions in the most efficient and timely manner
  • Assist in the maintenance of IT Business Continuity Plans (BCP), including completion of IT Business Impact Analyses (BIA), and recovery procedures
  • Work with technical delivery teams and assist in the maintenance of Technology Disaster Recovery plans and procedures
  • Provide support for the periodic testing of system and data recovery plans to ensure usability, performance, artifact retention, and effectiveness in meeting SLAs, RTOs, and RPOs
  • Assist with first line risk management duties including technical risk assessments, control testing, and risk mitigation
  • Assist in investigations to identify points of business and technology vulnerability and develop data loss-avoidance and reduction strategies
  • Comply with security policies and procedures to ensure that the highest level of system and data confidentiality, integrity and availability is maintained

Minimum Qualifications

  • Work under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.
  • Typically requires four to five years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a similar discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Two to four years of prior experience in BCP and Disaster Recovery planning and execution
  • Two to four years of experience analyzing system failures to minimize outages and interruptions
  • Good understanding of technology compliance requirements and their relationship to production processes
  • Strong research and analytical skills with a keen sense of awareness
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good understanding of industry best practices and regulatory standards for Business Continuity Management
  • Good understanding of technology infrastructure concepts and best practices

  • Ability to understand and effectively translate highly technical concepts and information into business and training materials
  • ABCP or CBCP certification preferred
  • Prior experience administrating standard Business Continuity Management tools or mass notification systems
  • Certifications in Systems and Networking Programs
  • Two to four years of experience working in operational departments within the Financial industry
  • Fundamental knowledge of the business processes, systems, and philosophy associated with high-performance technology companies

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL in USD per year is: $84,000 - $105,000.
San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $101,000 - $126,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
