What is a business analyst project manager?

A Business Analyst Project Manager is a professional who combines the skills of business analysis and project management to oversee projects and ensure business requirements are met. They are responsible for identifying business needs, defining solutions, and managing project timelines, resources, and deliverables. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills to bridge the gap between stakeholders and technical teams. Business Analyst Project Managers often facilitate meetings, create project documentation, and monitor progress to ensure successful project completion.

How do business analyst project managers balance the dual responsibilities of requirements gathering and project delivery?

Business Analyst Project Managers often face the challenge of juggling detailed requirements analysis with the broader oversight needed for project execution. To manage this effectively, they prioritize clear communication and strong stakeholder engagement, ensuring all requirements are well-understood and documented before moving into delivery phases. They also rely on structured project management methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall, to track progress and adapt plans as needed. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, as it helps bridge gaps between technical and business needs while keeping projects on track.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a business analyst project manager?

To thrive as a Business Analyst Project Manager, you need a solid grounding in requirements gathering, process analysis, project management, and often a relevant degree or certification such as PMP or CBAP. Familiarity with project management tools like Jira, MS Project, and business analytics platforms is typically required. Job description

About Rain
At Rain, we're rebuilding the global financial pipes money flows through. Our infrastructure makes stablecoins usable in the real world by powering credit card transactions, cross-border payments, B2B purchases, remittances, and more. We partner with fintechs, neobanks, and institutions to help them launch solutions that are global, inclusive, and efficient. If you're curious, bold, and excited to help shape a borderless financial system, we'd love to talk.
Our Ethos
Operating at the epicenter of stablecoin innovation means moving fast and thinking globally. Our team reflects the diverse, international audiences we serve. We hire people who stay agile as the tide ebbs and flows, fix what's broken without waiting, chase trends before they peak, and remember to have fun through it all.
About the Role
Rain is hiring a Project Manager to bring clarity, structure, and operational excellence to the company's most strategic initiatives. Based in San Juan, this role will work across departments and regions to coordinate execution on key programs including new product launches, integrations with banking and processing partners, network value-added services, and global expansion projects.
The ideal candidate thrives in fast-moving environments, can translate ambitious goals into actionable plans, and drives cross-functional collaboration with precision and accountability. This is an individual contributor role to begin, with the opportunity to build and lead a broader project management function as Rain continues scaling its operations and partnerships worldwide.
What You'll Do
  • Manage cross-functional projects across Rain's ecosystem, including product launches, partner integrations, value added service project planning and network initiatives.
  • Oversee integrations with banking partners, payment processors, and strategic partners, ensuring seamless technical and operational alignment.
  • Coordinate across product, business development, operations, compliance, and finance teams to keep priorities synchronized and deliverables on track.
  • Build and maintain project plans, tracking systems, and dashboards that create visibility across leadership and teams.
  • Identify dependencies, surface risks early, and drive resolution to maintain timelines and quality.
  • Lead initiatives tied to Visa and Mastercard programs, network value-added services, and partnership rollouts.
  • Support global expansion projects by coordinating readiness across markets, products, and partners.
  • Establish scalable frameworks and processes for efficient execution and consistent delivery.
  • Contribute to the long-term development of Rain's project management discipline, setting standards and best practices for future growth.
Who You Are
  • 6-9 years of experience managing complex, cross-functional projects, ideally in fintech, financial services, or technology.
  • Proven success delivering projects involving multiple partners, integrations, or global teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at driving accountability across stakeholders.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to bring clarity and momentum to dynamic environments.
  • Strategic yet hands-on-equally comfortable planning frameworks or diving into execution details.
  • Proficient with project management tools (Asana, Notion, Monday, etc.) and experienced in progress tracking and reporting.
  • Thrives in global, fast-paced environments with multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Based in San Juan, PR, with flexibility to collaborate across time zones.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in partner integrations with banks, processors, or payment networks.
  • Background in Visa or Mastercard program operations or network value-added services.
  • Familiarity with global expansion and market enablement projects.
  • Exposure to compliance or regulatory-adjacent processes.
  • PMP, Agile, or similar certifications.
Benefits
Our team works hard, so we make sure our benefits do too. Here's what you can expect as a Rainmaker:
  • Top-tier coverage: We cover 95% of Medical, Dental, and Vision premiums.
  • 401(k) with matching: Invest in your future, just like we're investing in ours.
  • Ownership that matters: Every team member gets equity because we believe in building together.
  • Work your way: Flexible hybrid setup with our San Juan office as your hub.
  • Unlimited PTO: Because time to rest and reset is just as important as time to ship.
  • Product-first perks: Monthly budget to test our cards and features like a real user.
  • Wellness support: Monthly stipend to spend on fitness, therapy, or whatever keeps you thriving.
  • Home office setup: One-time stipend to create a workspace that helps you perform at your best.
  • Team connection: Frequent company events, dinners, and offsites to stay connected and inspired.
