IT Business Analyst $34 - $56 per hour | Hybrid Contract

Job Description
We are seeking a Business Analyst with a strong financial background to support cross-functional initiatives by capturing, analyzing, and translating business needs into clear user stories and detailed requirements. This role works closely with Product Owners, subject matter experts, business teams, Quality Assurance, and Agile development teams to understand end-to-end business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and help drive informed decision-making. The ideal candidate brings experience in business analysis within an Agile environment, strong documentation and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities:
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements at the user story level
  • Partner with Product Owners, SMEs, business teams, and Agile development teams to understand business flows and priorities
  • Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to identify, define, and document detailed test cases
  • Create, maintain, and update business and product artifacts throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes, products, and operational workflows
  • Support decision-makers by gathering and organizing information needed to make informed business decisions
  • Participate actively on Agile teams using methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
  • Work independently on moderately complex issues, escalating only unusual cases as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive business information
  • Help coordinate priorities, timelines, and deliverables across multiple workstreams
  • Train others on business processes, procedures, and documentation when needed
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 2–3 years of related experience in business analysis, business processes, or project management
  • Financial background required
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
  • Experience with technology testing methods and procedures
  • Proficiency with personal computers, spreadsheets, and data manipulation tools
  • Ability to write and decompose user stories, test cases, and acceptance criteria
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendors
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including collaboration, facilitation, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to research alternatives, make recommendations, and support business decision-making
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Knowledge of property and casualty insurance rating, policy coverages, endorsements, and insurance products
  • Familiarity with insurance coverages, rating schemes, and related business processes
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery environments
  • Experience using application lifecycle management tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, or Rally
  • SQL knowledge
  • Familiarity with company and department practices and procedures
