Job description

Position Summary

The Account Manager will be responsible for developing long-term relationships with a specific portfolio of customers, making sure all customer needs are being met and understood by each department within Novo. Their duties include fostering a positive customer relationship, handling any customer complaints, working to find solutions to any customer issues and managing other departments to ensure customers are experiencing timely and successful fulfillment of orders and delivery of our products.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Product sales to customers within a territory, partnering with Territory Sales Manager (TSM) to secure sales.
  • Negotiates pricing with customers, determining best pricing to ensure sales. 
  • Ensures timely sales orders entered system.
  • Calls new, potential, and existing customers for sales opportunities, introducing new products and promotions.
  • Resolves customer grievances, discrepancy issues, and tracking processes of grievances and discrepancies, processing accurate credit/returns as applicable.
  • Manages monthly budgeted sales and projection of customer sales and gross margins.
  • Creates new customer relationships as well as maintaining current customer relationships.
  • Collects and analyzes data on consumer behavior and trends. 
  • Drives customer satisfaction to increase sales volume and profit margins.
  • Coordinates warehouse and shipping exceptions with other departments as required.
  • Partners with Purchasing Department on large sales and/or out-of-stock issues.
  • Partners with internal departments to ensure customer fulfillment. 
  • Reviews pricing and provides input for marketing materials.
  • Assists in training new department personnel, and demonstrates a high standard of teamwork, professionalism, conduct, and dedication to Novo Building Products’ goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (Required)

  • Previous sales experience with successful achievement of increasing revenue through current customers, developing new customer base, leading a sales team, and reporting results that consistently exceed expectations. 
  • Capability to communicate efficiently with all levels of employees, management, customers, and vendors both verbally and in written form.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization, as well as with outside business colleagues including presenting operational performance to business leaders.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Capacity to multi-task with speed and accuracy while prioritizing tasks and ability to maintain excellent organizational skills to work effectively and efficiently on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license, unrestricted except for vision correction, and good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or comparable area of study is preferred
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a building material sales and service environment.
  • Basic understanding of the supply chain to the building materials industry.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.
