This role is ideal for candidates with experience as a Controls Programmer, Automation Engineer, Building Automation Programmer, BAS Programmer, BMS Programmer, PLC Programmer, SCADA Programmer, or Controls Specialist.

Position Overview

JSET Automated Technologies is seeking a Controls Programmer to develop, implement, troubleshoot, and support automation systems for industrial and building automation projects.

This is a hands-on programming role that combines software development with real-world field support. The ideal candidate enjoys seeing systems operate in the field, collaborating with technicians and commissioning teams, and solving complex automation challenges during startup and commissioning activities.

While this position will primarily support projects in the South Bend region, candidates should be open to occasional travel for commissioning, startup, and project support activities.

What You'll Do
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot DDC controllers and PLC-based control systems
  • Develop control logic, sequences of operation, alarms, trends, schedules, and point databases
  • Create operator interfaces, HMI graphics, dashboards, and visualization screens
  • Configure and document BACnet, Modbus, and related communication protocols
  • Support field commissioning, startup, and functional testing activities
  • Troubleshoot control logic, communication issues, I/O problems, and device integration challenges
  • Work closely with field technicians, project managers, engineers, and commissioning teams
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
  • Maintain accurate documentation, backups, and version control of control system programs
  • Assist with system optimization, performance improvements, and customer support activities
  • Participate in project turnover and closeout processes
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience programming industrial automation, building automation, or control systems
  • Experience with one or more of the following platforms:
    • Niagara (Tridium)
    • Ignition
    • PLC-based automation systems
    • Rockwell Automation platforms preferred
  • Strong understanding of control sequences and system operation
  • Ability to troubleshoot automation systems in live operational environments
  • Experience working with field teams during installation, startup, and commissioning activities
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and industrial communications
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, controls schematics, and sequence of operations documents
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Experience with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
  • Experience with data center, industrial, manufacturing, or mission-critical projects
  • Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, or other industrial communication protocols
  • Experience developing HMI graphics and operator dashboards
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Controls, Computer Science, Electrical Technology, or related field
  • Experience supporting commissioning and startup activities
