Position Overview

The Broadband Installation Technician connects the telecommunication services in customers’ homes and offices. This position tests and troubleshoots to ensure televisions, computers, and wireless devices are connected while maintaining well-organized cables and cords. The Broadband Installation Technician is on time, communicates proactively, is prepared for the task at hand, and also provides respectful, patient, and thorough explanations of the services installed to ensure a best-in-class customer experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install telecommunication services in customers’ homes and offices; test and troubleshoot equipment and connections to ensure working properly
  • Thoroughly and patiently provide education to customers on the services installed and answer all customer questions prior to leaving the premises
  • Arrive on time for scheduled appointments, and communicate with customers proactively to advise when you will arrive and ensure they will be onsite
  • Utilize test equipment to ensure signal strength and connection
  • Process work orders prior to heading out, ensuring you have all necessary equipment and tools
  • Review work orders and work performed prior to leaving the premises to ensure work is complete and of the highest quality
  • Clean and maintain the interior and exterior of company vehicles, communicating any performance or maintenance issues to the Manager and Fleet Director
  • Adhere to driving and safety laws and company policies at all times
  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ year of previous broadband installation experience preferred
  • Strong computer, network, and electronics skills and knowledge; Ability to utilize applications on a tablet device
  • Excellent communication skills are required; ability to clearly, professionally, and effectively communicate technical information to a diverse audience
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Positive, solutions-oriented attitude with strong analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to organize and prioritize tasks to completion in a fast-paced environment while ensuring meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to remain insurable under the vehicle liability policy

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, operating, and working with technical equipment and tools

  • Ability to complete tasks requiring fine manipulation with small components and wires

  • Ability to see and work with small objects (less than 20 inches) including tablets and screens as well as see persons or objects peripherally and at a distance of 20 feet or more
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable and sustained use of your arms, legs, and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting, standing, reaching, lifting/handling materials up to 75lbs, pushing/pulling, and safely negotiating elevated work and small spaces; must be able to wear required PPE
