The Country Club of Rochester is a prestigious Platinum Club of America and one of the country's oldest clubs with deep roots in the community.

This is a great chance to be part of a devoted team who takes pride in providing excellent service. We are seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to fill the Accounting Specialist position!

Job Summary:

Under the general guidance and supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Specialist performs a variety of accounting functions related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, member billing, and financial recordkeeping. The position supports the organization's accounting operations by ensuring the accurate processing of transactions, maintaining accounting records, assisting with monthly close activities in coordination with the Staff Accountant, and providing financial data to support internal reporting and performance metrics. The Accounting Specialist works collaboratively with departments across the organization to ensure accurate billing, proper coding, and appropriate authorization of financial transactions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Process all member billing monthly
  • Coordinate with internal departments on member billing, ensuring accurate invoicing and proper documentation
  • Apply member payments and other cash receipts, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded in the accounting system
  • Prepare and process weekly accounts payable, ensuring proper coding and departmental approval prior to payment runs
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies on vendor statements and coordinate corrections with vendors and internal departments
  • Maintain and update vendor records to support accurate 1099 reporting
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure proper approval and accurate coding of vendor invoices
  • Support monthly and year end close activities by providing reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other accounting information to the Staff Accountant and CFO
  • Organize and maintain digital and physical accounting files in accordance with internal policies and record retention standards
  • Support the CFO with scheduled and ad hoc reporting needs
  • Assistin reviewing daily cash activity and help ensure transactions are properly recorded
  • Provide documentation and support for internal audits and assist the CFO in gathering necessary materials for the annual 990 preparation by the external CPA firm
  • Perform general accounting support tasks and assist with special projects as assigned

  • Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting procedures.

Education and Experience: 

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support roles
  • Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and member billing strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel is desirable
  • Prior experience in a private club, hospitality, or membership-based environment is a plus but notrequired
