Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a talented Bookkeeper to join our team. The Bookkeeper reports to Daystar’s Executive Director and works closely with our Accountant to maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with all legal requirements. They will be responsible for collaborating with other departments to uphold a positive guest experience and contribute to the overall success of the organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a strong understanding of best practices in accounting. In addition, the ideal candidate should also possess the following qualities associated with Daystar's mission: faith, honesty, compassion, affection, humanity, meekness, patience and cheerfulness.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including recording financial transactions and maintaining the general ledger.
  • Conduct general ledger reconciliation to ensure the accuracy of accounts.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions regularly.
  • Utilize financial software to streamline bookkeeping processes.
  • Assist in budgeting processes by providing relevant financial data and analysis.
  • Execute accounts receivable/payable processes, ensuring timely billing. 
  • Process checks and electronic payments.
  • Record donations in donor database. 
  • Prepare and make deposits.
  • Assist with data for yearly audit.
  • Maintain and organize physical and digital files.
  • Track and follow up on pending requests to ensure a smooth 1099 process.
  • Payroll processing.
