Job description

AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Director, Access Contracting - National Lead to set the strategic direction, performance expectations, and talent agenda for a national team of Community Contracting Account Directors (ACDs). In this Market Access leadership role, you will guide the execution of AstraZeneca's biopharmaceutical access programs while partnering closely with Brand, Contracting, Market Access, Sales, and other key stakeholders. Your leadership will help strengthen organizational capability, advance customer partnerships, and ensure the ACD team delivers measurable access impact for customers and the business.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced leader with strong executive presence, deep Buy & Bill expertise, and a demonstrated ability to build, coach, and lead high-performing teams. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop the national ACD team by setting clear expectations, establishing a culture of accountability, and coaching, mentoring, and developing talent to achieve sustained high performance. Recruit, hire, and retain top talent to build a strong and diverse team with the capabilities needed to meet current and future business objectives.

Provide strategic leadership for geographic access plans, including customer prioritization, resource allocation, opportunity identification, and implementation planning aligned with AstraZeneca's access goals. Apply advanced Buy & Bill business acumen by understanding the economic, operational, and market factors that influence biologics utilization and account decision-making. Maximize field engagement with ACDs and customer accounts to reinforce execution, strengthen team capability, and ensure alignment with customer and business priorities.

Drive cross-functional communication and collaboration with Brand Partners, Contracting, Executive and Commercial Business Directors, District Sales Managers, Biologic Sales Specialists, Contract Operations, and other key partners. Lead quarterly business reviews for supported Brand teams, translating access performance, market dynamics, customer insights, and strategic opportunities into concise, compelling, executive-level recommendations. Guide customer and internal business planning, including action plan development, issue resolution, opportunity assessment, and alignment of resources to meet customer needs and AstraZeneca business objectives.

Monitor and communicate market intelligence related to competitive activity, healthcare policy developments, reimbursement changes, and other external factors that may affect AstraZeneca's business or market position. Build and sustain strong customer relationships by identifying solutions, leveraging internal resources, and advancing partnerships that support appropriate access to AstraZeneca's FDA-approved products. Lead development processes for direct reports, including timely performance appraisals, development planning, coaching conversations, and compensation recommendations.

Manage administrative and operational responsibilities with discipline, including budget oversight, expense review, reporting compliance, data accuracy, and coordination with Contract Operations. Represent AstraZeneca externally through participation in industry meetings and conferences, including formal presentations where appropriate. Ensure compliance with the Code of Conduct, the AZ US Policy Handbook, all relevant company policies, and all applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.

About the Team and Role The Senior Director leads a national team of Community Contracting Account Directors and is accountable for team performance, capability building, talent development, and execution excellence across the organization. Success in this role requires the ability to lead through influence, develop people at scale, and align a geographically dispersed team around common priorities and measurable business outcomes. The role works across a complex, matrixed environment and serves as a senior partner to functions supporting AstraZeneca's access programs and business objectives.

Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Science, Business, or Management. Industry experience: At least 8 years of business experience in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry. Buy & Bill experience: At least 3 years of successful Buy & Bill program experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical products industry.

Leadership experience: At least 5 years of sales leadership or people management experience. Performance record: Demonstrated record of performance aligned with Brand expectations and business goals. Communication skills: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior internal stakeholders.

Talent leadership: Demonstrated success leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams. Preferred Qualifications Biologics expertise: Experience with biologics across multiple therapeutic areas. Organizational leadership: Strong track record of team leadership, talent development, and organizational performance improvement.

Strategic execution: Experience in business planning, market analysis, and strategic execution. Practice-level Buy & Bill programs: Experience implementing biologic Buy & Bill practice-level programs and support at the account level. Matrix leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence across functions and lead effectively in a complex, matrixed environment.

Travel Requirements Travel is required due to the national scope of the role. Overnight, multi-night, and occasional weekend travel may be necessary to meet business objectives, attend company meetings, and support field engagement.
