Job description

If you know what a denial management queue looks like and it doesn't make you want to lie down, you might be our person.

Billing Geeks is a New York City medical billing company that has been in the business for over 20 years. We handle the full back office for therapy practices across the city and beyond so our clients can stay focused on what they do best - helping people. We are real humans doing real work, and right now we need one more on the team.

Why Billing Geeks:
We are not a faceless corporation running everything through an algorithm and hoping for the best. We are a fun, experienced team that has been doing this long enough to know every trick insurance companies pull and we are not afraid to call them out. When you work here you are backed by two decades of know-how and a group of people who take the work seriously without taking themselves too seriously. (And if you occasionally like impromptu office dance parties, keep reading!)
What You Will Be Doing:
The role is detail-heavy and fast-moving. Here’s what your day looks like:
  • Building and scrubbing claims before submission so they don’t bounce back.
  • Managing denials and writing appeals when insurers push back (and they will push back).
  • Posting payments and keeping records organized.
  • Communicating clearly and kindly with patients when questions come up.
  • Following up on outstanding claims by phone and through insurance portals until they are resolved (nagging is a highly valued skill).
  • Keeping everything compliant because corners are not something we cut here.
Who We Are Looking For:
  • You have real medical billing experience and you know how to own your workload.
  • You take initiative, stay organized and follow through without being asked twice (even better if we don’t have to ask at all).
  • You notice problems before they become fires.
  • Bonus points if you can fix it before anyone else even knows it exists.
  • And you are the kind of person who makes everyone around you wonder how things ever ran without you.

Compensation and Perks:
  • $25/hr because your landlord doesn’t accept good vibes as payment.
  • Health insurance, because the people who fight with insurers all day deserve the good kind.
  • Paid time off to go be a human being outside of these four walls.
  • An FSA, so the government takes a little less of your money (pre-tax dollars are just better dollars).
  • Transit benefits to take the sting out of what the MTA charges.
  • 401K with company matching so your future self can have something nice too.
To Apply:
This isn’t a three-month interview process involving a panel of twelve strangers. Just send your resume.  We are a team that moves quickly and if your experience is what we are looking for, you will hear from us fast.
