The Big Ten Network is looking for a Production Manager to join the StudentU Program! The position will be based in Los Angeles and will oversee the day-to-day production of StudentU streamed broadcasts and serve as a primary point of contact for Video Service Coordinators in the Big Ten Conference to help them produce quality productions on campus. Additionally, the Manager, StudentU will manage freelance employees tasked with oversight of individual streams airing live on the B1G+ platform. Other responsibilities include collaborating with the StudentU team on establishing and upholding production procedures, developing training materials to teach students, and interacting with other departments, and BTN, and affiliate production partners to ensure a high quality of broadcasts for B1G+.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and uphold production policies, create training materials, and communicate best practices for StudentU programming on the B1G+ platform. Develop regular communication with students across the Big Ten to help them learn the fundamentals of live production and prepare for careers in the industry
  • Oversee daily function of the B1G+ Operations Center in Los Angeles, including hiring and training quality control operators who provide feedback and critiques of individual broadcasts to improve future productions.
  • Collaborate with the StudentU team and other departments at the Network to assist students with production and technical questions related to their broadcasts
  • Travel to Big Ten campuses to meet with students and staff and provide training and support
  • Together with the programming department, keep track of event schedules and ensure proper staffing schedules and resource allocation to support all events
  • Plan and program content for StudentU social media channels, Slack workspaces, LinkedIn, and more to promote the StudentU program and the work done by students
  • Work with staff and schools from B1G+ affiliated conferences outside the Big Ten and other production companies to ensure third-party produced content meets production standards

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 2+ years of prior experience working in live sports production
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to productively contribute to a team remotely while working outside of the typical Big Ten Network office space
  • Ability to communicate and understand technical information regarding television facilities and equipment
  • Proficiency in negotiation, presentation, and solid interpersonal skills
  • Capability to manage multiple high-profile projects and provide strong leadership and solid decision-making skills under tight deadlines

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $83,000.00-105,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
