Assistant Bell Captain

To provide prompt, courteous service to guests and familiarize incoming guests with the Lodge. Establish high standards of conduct to maintain a professional image with our guests. Responsible for the overall satisfaction of our guests. Oversees and coordinates bell desk & transportation, at times assists the ski locker room to ensure prompt, courteous service to the guests.

Essential Functions:

  • Welcome guests sincerely and make their stay as enjoyable as possible. Effectively and seriously respond and deal with the guests needs and requests

  • Be fully aware of daily functions in the hotel. Knowledgeable of surrounding area's attractions and points of interests

  • Assist guests at check-in and checkout. Tag, store, and distribute baggage

  • Record all bell service activities in the log book

  • Under the direction of the Bell Captain:  Administrative functions may include, but not limited to ordering newspapers, labor hour reconciliation, calculating gratuities and group services.

  • Maintain and organize all bell service files

  • Train, motivate, reward, and discipline staff as needed

  • Maintain adequate stock of supplies

  • Allocate baggage tip money in a fair and timely manner

  • Show rooms and property to visitors

  • Delivery of items such as messages, packages, and flowers to the rooms as needed Maintain fires in the fireplaces in the main entrance and main lobby

  • Provide ski and weather information

  • Maintain a clean, neat, and professional work area (including bell stand and entire front entrance in the garage)

  • Respond to all emergency situations, and know all the safety and emergency procedures and how to act upon them

  • Be able to quote basic history of the Stein Eriksen Lodge, Deer Valley, and Park City

  • Demonstrate an outgoing and pleasant attitude with all the guests and employees

  • Take all necessary measures to help the guests and fellow employees.

  • Responsible for shipping and receiving of guests’ skis, packages

Education, Experience, and skills preferred:

  • High school diploma 
  • Previous Bell service experience 
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Has an enthusiastic willingness to work together as a team
  • Ability to work flexible hours (days, evenings, weekends, and holidays)
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended period of times and lift at least 50lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
