Job description

The Regional HR Business Partner (RHRBP) is responsible for driving a one Belk culture through the planning and execution of all human resource activities and oversees execution within their assigned stores. Attracting, investing and retaining talent by elevating the candidate experience, providing feedback, coaching and engagement. Simplify and streamline processes, programs and workflow including role clarity in the stores.

Essential Functions:

Talent Management

  • Support human resources activities at the store level through recruiting, training, effective on-boarding, coaching, counseling, resolving problems and change management.
  • Work with business leaders to assess associate potential for future roles and responsibilities. Communicating career paths within the organization to develop future leaders.
  • Build a talent pipeline for the organization through external recruiting, leveraging recruiting tools and succession planning.

Leader Development

  • Coordinate interview process, job offers and comprehensive on-boarding for store management and HR team across the region.
  • Identify leadership skill gaps and leverage established Belk leadership curriculum to facilitate training in the field.
  • Support new company initiatives through training and follow up.

Performance Support

  • Ensure stores are completing orientations and on-going training to develop skills necessary to be successful in the job.
  • Ensure performance correctives are written appropriately, conducted in a timely manner and follows the corrective action process.
  • Advise management on appropriate disciplinary actions up to and including termination under the guidance of the Divisional HR Director and HR Manager.
  • Ensure integrity of associate data in Workday.
  • Meet company and staffing expectations by utilizing all company tools.
  • Communicate and provide weekly updates to the Regional Vice President (RVP) and Divisional HR on any issues or opportunities within the region.
  • Develop strong working relationships with store management and regional partners.

Associate Relations

  • Follow up and resolve most associate relations issues and excel calls within seven business days.
  • Enforce Belk's open door policy.
  • Produce documentation for EEOC, NRLB, Department of Labor and any state organization charges against the company.
  • Manage and monitor stores to ensure compliance with all Federal laws and Belk policies.
  • Provide assistance and guidance on Leave of Absence (LOA) and reasonable accommodation requests based on ADA regulations.
  • Support Belk Associate Engagement Survey process in each location and stores action plan.

Culture/Retention

  • Support culture strategy to reduce turnover and positively impact the associate experience.
  • Embrace, support and motivate others through change by supporting new company initiatives, processes, policies and procedures through collaboration, building customer loyalty and confidence.
  • Effectively communicate priorities and initiatives, maintain a high degree of confidentiality, have a high level of business acumen, strong presentation skills and the ability to maintain a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Ensure stores execute chat sessions. Follow up and take action on feedback as needed.

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent years of experience
  • 5+ years of applicable management and HR experience

Knowledge / Skills Requirements:

  • Excellent strategic planning and consultative skills
  • Effective communicator (oral and written), including public speaking skills
  • Coaching expertise
  • Ability to balance long- and short-term priorities
  • Ability to collect and evaluate information, develop solutions and foresee potential consequences or risks.
  • Sound business acumen
  • Flexible to adjust to varying expectations
  • General knowledge of HR programs, policies and practices
  • Must be able to handle confidential information and be an ethical HR leader
  • Must be able to work independently as needed and execute through others effectively
