Job description

Turing Point is focused on building out a best in class dual treatment Intensive Outpatient Program from youth struggling with Mental Health and Substance Use. In addition, we're working to build strong families and help the communities we serve addressing mental health and substance use.
Among the current suite of services, we offer Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program, Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program, Behavior Coaching and Family Services, DUI/DWAI services, and Individual and Family Therapy. Services are offered in-home, in the community, or from either outpatient facility (913 11th Ave in Greeley and 1644 S. College Ave in Fort Collins). We have contracts with DHS and DYS, and also provide services to youth, families, and adults not involved in the system.
Job Title: Behavioral Coach FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Employee
Department: Outpatient Services Reports to: Outpatient Director
Minimum Salary: $21/hour + $2 bilingual differential*
Position Summary:
A Behavioral Coach works with individual clients, by focusing on their identified areas of growth with the end goal of self-sufficiency, preserving placements and overall wellbeing. Behavioral Coaches develop strategies for positive change, and implement interventions to achieve desired outcomes in areas such as life skills, coping skills, interpersonal skills development, social skills, parenting skills and overall functioning.
Responsibilities:
As a Behavioral Coach, you will play a vital role in helping youth and families develop essential life skills, coping mechanisms, and interpersonal abilities. Your key responsibilities include providing individualized support, teaching behavioral principles, collaborating with other professionals and stakeholders (such as Case workers, probation officers, school counselors, therapists, teachers, parents, and families), and monitoring progress and evaluating the effectiveness of treatment plans.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with children, youth, families and referral sources to identify strengths, needs, and goals.
  • Developing and implementing personalized behavior management plans and strategies.
  • Providing guidance and support to foster healthy relationships and communication within families.
  • Connecting youth and families with appropriate community resources to address their specific needs.
  • Collaborating with other professionals, including case workers, educators, and mental health experts.

Qualifications:
  • A degree in a human service field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology).
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Preferred minimum of 2 years experience working directly with youth and families in a community-based setting.
  • Strong knowledge of local community resources and the ability to effectively connect youth and families to these resources.
  • Proficiency in teaching life skills, coping mechanisms, and interpersonal skills to children, youth, and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement behavior management plans and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport and build trust with clients.
  • Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate and thorough documentation.

  1. Represent the agency, in word and action, in a manner that conveys professionalism, consensus of department and treatment team, support the agency mission and treatment philosophies, and regard for agency policies and procedures.(PPPM-Section 1080 3.d.)
  2. Role model to clients in an appropriate demeanor, appearance, language and communication. (PPPM-Section 1080 1.g.)
  3. Treat with respect the findings, views, and actions of all colleagues, and use appropriate channels to express judgment on these matters. (PPPM-Section 1080 3.c.)

Essential functions:
  1. Effectively represent the mission and purpose of Turning Point.
  2. Oversee all aspects of the client's treatment services and delivery.
  3. Coordinate with Supervisor to ensure the quality of therapeutic services for the clients served in all areas of the program.
  4. This position requires regular travel. Employees must maintain a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable access to a personal vehicle for work-related duties.

Physical demands and work environment:
  1. Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds (physical).
  2. Ability to use computerized client database systems for documentation and record keeping (visual).
  3. Ability to communicate with clients, families, referral agents and other professionals in person, by telephone and by email (verbal, visual, hearing).
  4. Ability to climb stairs to access clients at all times in the buildings (physical).
  5. Ability to operate a motor vehicle in order to transport clients (physical, visual).

*Bilingual Compensation
This position is eligible for a bilingual pay increase for candidates who demonstrate professional proficiency in English and a second language that is directly used in the performance of the role. Bilingual employees are expected to use both languages regularly to communicate with clients and internal teams. Eligibility for, and continuation of, bilingual pay is contingent upon verified language proficiency and the ongoing business need to use both languages in the position.
