Job description

Position Summary

This position is being offered on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis only.

The Bankruptcy Assistant plays an important role by preparing reaffirmation agreements, works invoices and reviews supporting documents in accordance with bankruptcy regulations and handles inbound phone calls. The position works to ensure systems are updated, statuses are communicated, and bankruptcy court submissions are prepared within required timeframes.

Compensation 

This role is a non-exempt position with a Targeted Salary Range of $20/hr - $27/hr.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.

Essential Functions

  • Manage Bankruptcy Chapter 7 portfolio on an independent basis.
  • Ensure Reaffirmation Agreements are prepared based on investor guidelines and referred to attorney in a timely manner.
  • Enter detailed notes in the system related to pertinent actions taken, delays, follow-up actions, and phone conversations.
  • Intake inbound calls for Bankruptcy payments and ensuring complete customer satisfaction and deliver best-in-class service experience in a professional courteous manner to our customers.
  • Process Bankruptcy invoices received from vendors/attorneys and prepare for manager to review and approve.
  • Review and complete assignments of mortgage as needed.
  • Manage Bankruptcy central email inbox for distribution to the assigned bankruptcy specialist.
  • Assist in pulling documents needed for audit and uploading to appropriate shared drive location.
  • Manage deadlines by prioritizing and handling multiple projects with competing time constraints.
  • Review of the Safeguard Bankruptcy loan population report ensuring that inspections have been completed as requested and updating the system of record with findings.
  • Ensure completed files are audited for accuracy and uploaded into the document retention system.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies as well as internal and external and compliance guidelines.
  • Obtain vendor fees & cost request.
  • Bankruptcy plan review.
  • Handling of electronic court notifications.
  • Handling of inbound mail and checks received.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Some college courses preferred equivalent.
  • Minimum three years total work experience in positions with responsibility for processing mortgage foreclosures associated documents and timelines.
  • Minimum two years' experience in bankruptcies.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment required.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work in an emotionally demanding role that requires patience and professionalism while interacting with consumers experiencing financial and emotional stress.
  • Prior experience using the internet to perform basic searches to obtain information.
  • 10-key by touch preferred.
  • Prior experience using document retention software; Blitzdoc and/or AIQ preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications required.

Requirements

  • Physical: Work is primarily sedentary; occasionally walks and/or stands.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Audio/Visual: Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation. Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.
  • Environmental:  Office environment – no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Mental: Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in the context of a workflow. This role requires effective adaptation to workplace stressors, including customer service complaints, security responsibilities, and competing priorities. Must be able to adhere to process protocol. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.
  • Schedules: Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday.
