A Back Office Nurse is a licensed nurse who works primarily in the administrative or clinical support areas of a healthcare facility, rather than directly with patients at the front desk or in exam rooms. Their responsibilities typically include managing patient records, processing lab results, coordinating referrals, handling prescription requests, and supporting physicians with documentation. While they may have some patient interaction, their main focus is on ensuring smooth workflow and communication within the medical office.
