Job description

Job Summary:
Vitro is the largest glass manufacturer in the Western Hemisphere, and they are seeking a qualified Data Engineering Specialist to join their Research & Development team at the Glass Technology Center in Harmar, PA. The role involves building and maintaining the Vitro Data and Analytics Platform, developing tools and applications to support both R&D and non-R&D customers.
Responsibilities:
• Works in a safe manner and strictly adheres to all laboratory and manufacturing safety protocols
• Acquire, consolidate and validate large datasets from multiple sources through data platform/system such as SQL, AVEVA PI, and Azure Cloud, etc.
• Perform data transformation and processing thru coding
• Document data variables from different on-prem data sources and in Cloud, transformation, and merge rules
• Mange, orchestrate and troubleshoot data flows in Cloud
• Work with AVEVA PI systems: build and manage PI Views, build AF structures
• Assist in compilation of research reports and communication of research findings in project meetings
• Travel to manufacturing plants for project launch and execution may be required
Qualifications:
Required:
• B.S. STEM major (Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant fields) requires 2+ years relevant experience
• M.S. entry level with directly applicable degree, otherwise M.S. will also require 1+ year(s) relevant experience
• Written and verbal communication skills along with human relations competency are essential.
• Strong aptitude and willingness to continually learn and expand skill sets
• Dedication to timely and detailed follow-through
• Skilled in programming with languages including Python, PySpark, and C# .NET
• Experience with relational databases and SQL scripting
• Experience with Excel including scripting and automation
Preferred:
• Knowledge of AVEVA PI
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure
• Knowledge of Spark
• Knowledge of Apache Kafka
• Fundamental knowledge in statistics and engineering
• Knowledge of glass making and vacuum coating processes
