Shop Foreman / Operations Manager – Hyperion Auto Repair  Los Angeles, CA |  $120,000–$180,000/yr DOE
About Us
Hyperion Auto Repair is a growing, high-performance auto repair operation built on quality work, operational excellence, and a customer experience that keeps people coming back. We're not your average shop; we run lean, we move fast, and we hold our team to a high standard. We're looking for a leader who matches that energy.
The Role
This isn't a wrench-turning job. This is a leadership role for someone who has been in the trenches, understands exactly how a repair shop runs from first phone call to final pickup, and can now step back and make the whole machine operate at its highest level. You'll own the floor, manage the team, drive revenue, and be the standard everyone else is measured against.
If you're the type who spots inefficiencies before they become problems, know how to push a ticket through without cutting corners, and can motivate a team while holding them accountable, we want to talk.
What You'll Own
Operations & Workflow
- Oversee the full repair cycle from vehicle write-up and parts ordering through labor execution and final QC
- Build, enforce, and continuously improve shop workflows to eliminate bottlenecks and maximize throughput
- Ensure repair orders are accurate, complete, and moving — no ticket sits without a reason
- Manage bay assignments, technician scheduling, and labor capacity planning
- Coordinate with service advisors and parts department to keep jobs on time and on budget
Team Management
- Directly supervise and mentor all shop technicians
- Hold mechanics accountable to quality standards, efficiency benchmarks, and time targets
- Conduct regular performance reviews and identify training needs
- Create a shop culture built on precision, accountability, and professionalism
- Resolve conflicts on the floor quickly and decisively
Sales & Revenue
- Partner with service advisors to maximize approved repair dollars per RO
- Identify upsell opportunities during inspections and ensure they're being presented to customers
- Monitor and drive key performance metrics: effective labor rate, hours per RO, comeback rate, and overall shop productivity
- Reduce unnecessary parts returns, sublet overuse, and labor inefficiencies that kill margin
Quality Control
- Perform final inspections on completed repairs before vehicles are returned to customers
- Own the comeback rate — when something goes wrong, you figure out why and fix the process
- Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and equipment standards
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and running like a professional operation
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in automotive repair, with at least 3 years in a leadership, foreman, or shop management role
- Deep knowledge of the full repair shop cycle — estimating, parts, labor, delivery, and everything in between
- Proven ability to manage and develop a team of technicians
- Strong understanding of shop financials, KPIs, and how operational decisions impact the bottom line
- Experience working alongside or coaching service advisors on sales strategy and customer approvals
- Hands-on mechanical background (highly preferred) — ASE certifications a plus
- Valid driver's license with a clean record
- Excellent communicator — with your team, with management, and when needed, with customers
- Proficient with shop management software (Mitchell1, ShopWare, or similar)
Compensation
Salary: $120,000–$180,000, depending on experience and track record
- Performance bonuses tied to shop KPIs
- Career growth opportunity as the company scales
This role is for someone who treats the shop like it's their own business because, in many ways, it will be.
