Job description

SUMMARY

The Nurse Educator is responsible for identifying, facilitating and evaluating educational activities for nursing and clinical staff. This position provides opportunities to promote life-long learning for employees and lends to safe, quality, patient care.

STATUS: Full-Time

LOCATION: Rochester Regional Health Home Care - Monroe Ave

DEPARTMENT: HHC CLINICAL STAFF EDUCATION

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Nursing preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates the orientation process for all new staff. Develops, organizes and delivers all classroom or virtual orientation lesson plans.
  • Provides ongoing educational needs assessment to identify relevant educational activities such as new diagnoses, new equipment, policy and procedure expectations, and quality outcome data.
  • In collaboration with Directors/Managers, provides support and education remediation, as appropriate.
  • Assesses staff competency levels and facilitates various methods to accomplish competency completion.
  • Facilitate and/or develop and deliver continuing educational opportunities for staff.
  • Determine effectiveness of educational offerings and analyze cost to maximize the efficient utilization of resources.
  • Maintains strict record keeping of all educational activities with attendance as required by regulatory agencies such as NYSDOH.
  • Utilizes a variety of learning methods such as power point presentations, on-line computer programs, self-learning packets, demo/re-demonstration, simulation training.
  • Utilizes effective communication strategies by developing communications and audio visual materials that are clear and concise.
  • Maintains professional affiliations as appropriate to keep abreast of new developments and participates in activities that enhance personal and professional growth.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
