Job description

Job Summary
Our corporate activities are growing rapidly, and we are currently seeking a full-time, office-based Desktop Systems Engineer to join our Information Technology team.
Responsibilities
As our team has several openings at different levels and in different skill areas, the list below are samples of some of the technologies that we work with. While we desire candidates with experience in these specific technologies, we also understand that each of them have market alternatives, so the most important skillset a candidate can have is a good attitude and have a strong work ethic. Top candidates will have an aptitude to learn new technology and have a "do what it takes" attitude.
Installation and Configuration:
  • Install, configure, and maintain audio-visual equipment in conference rooms and event spaces, including projectors, monitors, speakers, microphones, and video conferencing systems.
  • Set up and test video conferencing platforms with Microsoft Teams to ensure seamless integration with hardware.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of A/V equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Work with A/V integrator to deliver Projects on time
  • Participate in architecture discussions and planning with Technology and Facilities teams.
  • Set up new user accounts for A/V systems and conferencing platforms.
  • Configure permissions and ensure proper integration with Microsoft Teams and Exchange.

Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to A/V equipment and applications.
  • Provide technical support to end users experiencing A/V issues during meetings and events.
  • Work with IT and other technical teams to address network or system issues affecting A/V performance.
  • Address A/V related system vulnerabilities
  • Troubleshoot and maintain integrated audio systems in Microsoft Teams conference rooms
  • Escalate complex issues to Level 3 or vendor support when necessary
  • Monitor A/V device health and performance using tools such as XIO Cloud.
  • Perform firmware updates and configuration checks on A/V hardware as needed.
  • Ensure A/V systems are properly integrated with organizational IT infrastructure.
  • Maintain compliance with security and access control policies.

Support for Meetings and Events:
  • Assist in the planning, setup, and execution of A/V requirements for internal and external meetings, webinars, and events.
  • Operate A/V equipment during events to ensure high-quality audio and video output.
  • Provide on-site and remote support to ensure smooth operation of A/V systems during live events.

Documentation and Training:
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of A/V installations, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees on the use of A/V equipment and video conferencing tools.
  • Develop user guides and troubleshooting tips for common A/V issues and new deployments.
  • Manage A/V equipment inventory.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated with the latest A/V technology trends and advancements.
  • Recommend upgrades and improvements to enhance the A/V capabilities of the organization.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to source and evaluate new A/V products

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Audio-Visual Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an A/V Technician or similar role.
  • Proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting A/V equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx).
  • Solid understanding of networking including TCP/IP, UDP, and IP schemas.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, end users, as well as all levels of management
  • Demonstration of strong communication, decision making, self management, and teamwork capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours when necessary.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move A/V equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders or lifts.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including office spaces, conference rooms, and event venues.
