Job description

Summary

CTC Group is seeking Kanuri Operational Language Analysts - Native Capability, levels 1-4, to provide native language and cultural expertise while performing tasks required to process voice and/or graphic language materials in support of SIGINT Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to comprehend written and/or spoken material in the required language that includes references and vocabulary related to common social situations and everyday life in countries where the language is widely spoken
  • Sufficient English skills to render the main points of straightforward, factual materials in the required language into English with a reasonable degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to comprehend written and/or spoken standard and substandard contemporary forms of the required language including complex grammar and syntax.
  • Ability to comprehend material in the required language that includes idioms, colloquialisms, subtleties and nuances, emotions and attitudes.
  • Ability to produce accurate translations of complex material from the required language into idiomatic American English.
  • Analyze and interpret language materials to identify relevant intelligence information.
  • Render translations and/or transcripts based on straightforward, factual written and/or spoken material.
  • Translating and/or transcribing complex and sophisticated written and/or spoken material.
  • Gisting complex and sophisticated written and/or spoken material.
  • Performing quality control review of translations and transcripts of complex and sophisticated written and spoken material.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance
  • One (1) year experience typing on an English keyboard.
  • Native Capability is defined for the purpose of this labor category as having learned the language since birth; and having been formally educated in, and via, the language for a minimum of ten (10) years, in a country where the language is an official, national or commonly spoken language.
    • Exception: In the case of a language/dialect that is not an official or national language and formal public education is not conducted in the language/dialect, Native Capability is defined as having learned and used the language/dialect since birth; and having used the language for at least fifteen (15) years in a region where the language/dialect is commonly used among a historically rooted population of resident speakers who employ the language/dialect in social, cultural, employment, economic, or other public sphere interactions beyond immediate family/household use.
Level 1 Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or equivalent.
  • Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 2 in Audio Translation Performance and/or Translation Performance from the required language(s) into standard American English.
    • Scores from the MPO Civilian Language Test of Record, valid at time of resume submission, may be used as acceptable validation for text translation and audio translation skill level(s).
    • ILR skill level validation shall be documented within two (2) years prior to resume submission.
Level 2 Qualifications
  • Associate of Arts (AA)/Associate of Science (AS) degree, or equivalent from other countries.
    • In lieu of the Associate's Degree, two (2) years' experience performing translation of materials (minimum ILR Level 3) from the required language(s) into English may be substituted.
  • Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 3 in Audio Translation Performance and/or Translation Performance from the required language(s) into idiomatic, standard American English.
    • Scores from the MPO Civilian Language Test of Record, valid at time of resume submission, may be used as acceptable validation for text translation and audio translation skill level(s).
    • ILR skill level validation shall be documented within two (2) years prior to resume submission.
Level 3 Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA)/Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, or equivalent from other countries.
    • In lieu of the Bachelor's Degree, an additional four (4) years of directly related, applied, practical work experience may be substituted for a total of eight (8) years' experience.
  • Four (4) years full-time experience performing translation of materials (minimum ILR Level 3) from the required language(s) into English.
  • Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 3 in Audio Translation Performance and/or Translation Performance from the required language(s) into idiomatic, standard American English.
    • Scores from the MPO Civilian Language Test of Record, valid at time of resume submission, may be used as acceptable validation for text translation and audio translation skill level(s).
    • ILR skill level validation shall be documented within two (2) years prior to resume submission.
Level 4 Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA)/Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, or equivalent from other countries.
    • In lieu of the Bachelor's Degree, an additional four (4) years of directly related, applied, practical work experience may be substituted for a total of twelve (12) years' experience.
  • Eight (8) years full-time experience performing translation of materials (minimum ILR Level 3) from the required language(s) into idiomatic, standard American English.
    • At least four (4) of the eight (8) years' experience shall be in cryptologic Operations performing language processing in the required language(s).
    • At least three (3) of the four (4) years' c1yptologic Operations experience shall be in translating and/or transcribing, and gisting.
    • Two (2) of the four (4) years' cryptologic Operations experience shall be within four (4) years of resume submission.
  • Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 3 in both Audio Translation Performance and Translation Performance from the required language(s) into idiomatic, standard American English.
    • Scores from the MPO Civilian Language Test of Record, valid at time of resume submission, may be used as acceptable validation for text translation and audio translation skill level(s).
    • ILR skill level validation shall be documented within two (2) years prior to resume submission.

Pay Information
The final salary may be influenced by various factors, such as location, labor categories, experience, education, and/or certifications. CTC also provides a variety of benefits as well as opportunities for continuous education and development. 
The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 - $190,000.
