Captain/Aircraft Manager - Citation CJ4

Maguire Iron

Sioux Falls, SD • On-site

Full-time

Posted 19 days ago

Job description

We are seeking an experienced, professional, and highly motivated full-time pilot to join our team and operate our Citation CJ4. This is a single-pilot operation with an emphasis on safety, professionalism, and exceptional service to our principals. This is an exclusive Part 91 position supporting two principals and their families. We are seeking a long-term aviation professional who will manage every aspect of the aircraft and provide first-class ownership experience.
Flying is divided approximately between business and personal travel:
  • 65% business-related travel
  • 35% personal/leisure travel

Essential Functions:
Our operating philosophy is that safety always takes precedence over schedule and that the pilot has full authority to delay, divert, or cancel flights when safety dictates and is encouraged and fully supported in recommending the use of a second pilot whenever, in their professional judgement, it enhances safety. The pilot will serve as the primary point of contact for all flight operations and aircraft management. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Flight Operations
  • Conduct all flights in a safe, legal, and professional manner under FAR Part 91
  • Plan and file all flight plans, weather analysis, NOTAMs, and route planning
  • Serve as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) for all CJ4 operations
  • Ensure aircraft is ready, fueled, and configured prior to each departure

Aircraft/Hanger Management
  • Oversee all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in coordination with a maintenance provider
  • Manage aircraft squawks, logbooks, and airworthiness documentation
  • Coordinate and track annual inspections, avionics updates, and AD compliance
  • Manage hangar arrangements, FBO relationships, and ground handling at home base and destinations
  • Manage maintenance budgeting, vendor relationships, Textron Service Center coordination, database subscriptions, aircraft value preservation, and continuous improvement
  • Maintain aircraft interior cleanliness and ensure the cabin is properly stocked with supplies, refreshments, and amenities prior to each flight
  • Maintain hanger for cleanliness

Passenger Logistics & Concierge
  • Coordinate all aspects of travel for principals and their guests: ground transportation, rental cars, hotels, and special requests
  • Calendar management to reserve flights
  • Serve as the primary liaison between owners and trip logistics providers
  • Provide a first-class experience from departure to arrival - attention to detail matters
  • Anticipate needs, communicate proactively, and handle issues quietly and efficiently

The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required. May perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule & Availability
This is a full-time salaried position. Our owners value work-life balance and strive to provide reasonable and predictable scheduling. Trip schedules are typically communicated:
  • 1-4 weeks in advance for planned trips

While some last-minute trips will arise in the nature of private aviation, our owners are conscientious about the pilot's time and personal commitments. On-call expectations and blackout dates will be mutually agreed upon during onboarding.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.
  • Single pilot certification/training
  • FAA ATP Certificate (or Commercial with instrument rating - ATP preferred)
  • Valid First-Class Medical Certificate
  • CJ4 type rating (or willingness to obtain - training available for the right candidate)
  • Minimum total flight time: 3,500 hours (flexible for exceptional candidates)
  • Minimum PIC time: 1,000 hours turbine or jet, single-pilot experience preferred
  • Clean aviation record - no accidents, incidents, or violations
  • Valid U.S. passport
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in single-pilot jet operations
  • Experience as a fractional, charter, or corporate pilot
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to self-manage
  • Proficiency with ForeFlight, Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite, and standard aviation ops software
  • Experience booking travel, hotels, and coordinating passenger logistics
  • Professional attributes- integrity, discretion, ownership mentality, communication skills, hospitality mindset, and attention to detail

What We Offer:
  • Dedicated Part 91 operation
  • No charter flying
  • Well maintained aircraft
  • Annual simulator training
  • Competitive compensation & benefits
  • Long term stability

Work Environment:
  • Performs duties within a compact, dual-pilot flight deck for extended periods.
  • Operates in pressurized cabins at simulated high altitudes with low humidity levels.
  • Wears communication headsets to mitigate constant low-frequency engine noise and radio chatter.
  • Encounters varying atmospheric conditions, including turbulence, glare, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Remains seated for long durations with limited mobility during multi-hour flights.
  • Subject to irregular hours, night shifts, and rapid transitions across multiple time zones.
  • Safely navigates physical vibrations and sudden aircraft movements using multi-point harnesses.
