Sea Export Customer Service
Position Summary
The Sea Export Customer Service / Sea Logistics Customer Care Specialist plays a key role in managing export shipments and delivering superior customer experience. This position coordinates the full lifecycle of sea export operations, supports customers with proactive communication, handles documentation, and ensures compliance with global logistics standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the complete export shipment process, including booking, pick-up/inland transport arrangements, and routing.
- Prepare and manage all export documentation such as Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, export declarations (AES), and commercial documents.
- Update shipment statuses, ensure accurate data entry, and maintain high data quality throughout the shipment lifecycle.
- Track and trace shipments, ensuring timely delivery and resolving issues as necessary.
- Maintain upโtoโdate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), customer profiles, rates, and routing preferences.
Customer Service & Engagement
- Serve as the primary contact for sea export customers, providing guidance, answering questions, and resolving complaints.
- Proactively communicate with customers, vendors, carriers, truckers, and overseas offices.
- Qualify customer inquiries, prepare and follow up on quotations within pricing guidelines.
- Support customer onboarding and ensure proper transfer of requirements into systems.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and provide feedback to improve service delivery.
Financial & Compliance
- Collaborate with Finance to adjust credit limits and address financial issues as needed.
- Negotiate costโeffective rates with carriers and service providers to support profitability.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve billing discrepancies to ensure alignment with customer SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with export regulations, INCOTERMS, and relevant agency requirements (FMC, EAR, Hazmat, etc.).
Qualifications & Skills
- 2โ5 years of experience in sea freight export logistics or freight forwarding.
- Strong understanding of international shipping procedures, export compliance, and INCOTERMS.
- Familiarity with export documents: Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of U.S. regulatory frameworks (FAA, FMC, EAR, Hazmat).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong problemโsolving and multitasking abilities under time pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with logistics systems preferred.
