Job description

Hospital Wide Depts. Under general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, and the Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to safely coordinate total patient care and education for patients as they are admitted and discharged from the facility. As determined by the Nurse Manager, the nurse will rotate between weekends and holidays according to the needs of the facility.

The nurse is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. The Registered Nurse will be expected to function independently in ICU, CVSU, ED, medical-surgical floors, and telemetry floors. Assignments will be made based on current staffing needs.

Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors. Will be responsible for documenting total care given, review and maintain patient chart per policy, and assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into computer system. The successful candidate will have to pass a pharmacology test for this position.

Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is nonnegotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions. The Registered Nurse collaborates frequently with the CNO, ACNO, Nurse Manager, and Staff. Collaborates with physicians, administrators/assistants and peers.

Additionally, the Registered Nurse is responsible to assist as directed in problem solving by promoting teamwork between staff, physicians, home health, and the hospital-owned outpatient clinics and all other ancillary departments. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, nondefensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, and visitors. The successful candidate will have to pass a pharmacology test for this position.

Attendance to yearly Mandatory and assigned Healthstream education requirements is nonnegotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions. The employee is responsible for maintaining all certifications and licensure requirements on time.
