Job description

Video Producer - District Office
FUNCTION: The Producer, Video is responsible for conceptualizing, capturing, editing and producing original video content that promotes San Jacinto College, its programs, students, and employees. The position manages the full production process - from story development and pre-production planning, through filming, editing and final delivery - for distribution across social media, web, advertising, events, email marketing, and other digital platforms.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Conceptualize short-form video and graphic assets to be used in social media, on the College website, in marketing advertising efforts, at College events, and for distribution on other platforms. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop creative concepts, scripts, storyboards, shot lists, production schedules, locations, and other project requirements.
  • Conduct video shoots, including preparing and operating cameras, lighting, audio, and other production equipment; directing participants; conducting interviews; and capturing b-roll and other visual assets.
  • Edit and produce polished video and graphic content, incorporating motion graphics, music, captions, branding, and other elements as appropriate. Format, optimize, organize, and archive final assets.
  • Conduct market research as needed to develop understanding of target market(s) to aid in department's digital marketing, social media, and advertising efforts.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Marginal Job Functions:
  • Participate as a representative for the marketing and public relations department on College-wide committees and tasks forces as needed / assigned.
  • Attend events and meetings, sometimes after hours and on weekends, to capture b-roll.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge demonstrated of camera equipment, filming techniques, video production, and video editing software.
  • Demonstrated experience producing video and graphics (static and motion) content for website and social media platforms.
  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, social media moderation software, and video editing and animation software.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate photo, video, and lighting equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with social media platforms, best practices, industry trends, and developments.
  • Must demonstrate creativity, engagement, and the ability to work within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time successfully and to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to network and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to a work schedule that can change, including evening and weekend hours.

Required Education:
  • Associate degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field

Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Marketing, Advertising, Communications or related field

Required Experience:
  • Four years of video production experience

Preferred Experience:
  • Additional photography experience; marketing video copywriting experience a plus; two years of experience with graphic design or animation

Note: This position has opportunity for remote work arrangements (2 days a week) with appropriate approvals and in accordance with the policies, procedures, and needs of the College.
