Job description

About the Role:

We are seeking a talented and experienced CAD Draftsman & Detailer to join a growing automation and manufacturing team. This position is responsible for preparing detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models used in the design, fabrication, and assembly of equipment and components. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and proficiency with CAD software. Experience with press brake and laser programming is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software.

  • Create accurate fabrication, machining, and assembly drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

  • Review and interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design concepts to produce final detailed drawings.

  • Ensure all drawings adhere to company and industry drafting standards.

  • Collaborate with engineering and shop personnel to clarify design intent and resolve drawing-related issues.

  • Update and maintain drawing revisions and document control within the CAD/PDM system.

  • Assist in developing standard components, drawing templates, and documentation procedures.

  • Perform occasional field measurements and verification of existing equipment for retrofit or upgrade projects.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance drafting and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Develop pricing for fabricated parts and assemblies.

  • Support or perform press brake and laser programming for fabrication operations.

Qualifications / Education:

Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, or related field; equivalent experience demonstrating proficiency will also be considered.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of CAD drafting and detailing experience in a manufacturing, automation, or industrial environment.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent 3D modeling software.

  • Experience producing shop drawings, weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts.

  • Experience with press brake programming and laser programming preferred.

  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), fabrication practices, and manufacturing processes.

  • Understanding of mechanical assemblies, materials, and production methods.
