Job description

The Manufacturing Engineering Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and continuously improving technical training programs for engineering personnel. This role ensures engineering employees are proficient in engineering principles, production processes, equipment operation, quality standards, and safety protocols. The trainer will develop training plans and career development plans for engineers that align with the growth initiatives of the company and the individual engineers. The trainer is expected to conduct internal training led by them and arrange external training for engineers on certain engineering technologies. When workload allows this engineer will also support with the launch of new model projects.

TASKS OF THE POSITION:

Training Development & Delivery

  • Design and deliver structured training plans for each member of the engineering team on manufacturing engineering principles, including technical skills and knowledge required for the position. ·
  • Perform internal training on subjects such as vision systems, torque systems, leak testers, scanning systems and 3D printing. ·
  • Facilitate onboarding and upskilling programs for engineers. ·
  • Facilitate scheduling of external training in alignment with the approved career development plan for technologies such as PLC training, CMM training (Faro Arm), 3D Modeling training (Catia, Solid Works) and Robotics training. ·
  • Train Engineers on critical skills such as cycle time analysis and line balancing, lean manufacturing, equipment trouble shooting best practices and basic project management skills. · Maintain documentation outlining training status of each engineer. ·
  • Stay current with emerging manufacturing technologies and integrate them into training. ·
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics.

New Model Product Launch

  • Support with equipment procurement, run-off, pre-pilot, pilot, capability studies, control plans and measurement system analysis. ·
  • Develop schedules and completes activities for new model projects, process improvements and productivity improvements. ·
  • Interface with the customer Product and Development Engineers to discuss engineering problems related to product design and manufacturing processing. ·
  • Support with integrating new assembly lines into our production teams, including training production, quality, maintenance and engineering associates on equipment operation. ·
  • Start-up new products and equipment (supervise installation, troubleshoot initial production processes, and ensure new products meet requirements, document and transfer to Production & Maintenance). ·
  • Create job aids for production, quality and engineering associates for new equipment. ·
  • Actively participate and support the Continuous Improvement, Cost Reduction, and Associate Involvement processes. ·
  • Participate on multi-functional teams (Production staff, New Model, R&D) to resolve problems and develop new production processes. ·
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for the timely resolution of manufacturing process and product design problems.
  • Serve as a resource for cause / effect analyses, investigations, statistical studies, and problem-solving analysis.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Works with minimal supervision and is self-driven in performance.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with technical know-how.
  • Possesses and applies considerable knowledge of Engineering principles, practices and procedures.
  • Proficiently uses knowledge of computer systems, spreadsheet software, word processing software, and presentation software for analysis and communication.
  • Makes decisions for countermeasures and improvements based on informed data.
  • Has excellent working knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Working knowledge of torque systems, vision systems, scanning systems, leak test systems and plc?s is a plus.
  • Communicates clearly with station operators, peers, and upper management personnel.
  • Effectively uses lean manufacturing knowledge to continuously improve manufacturing processes.
  • Possesses strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma & Lean Manufacturing desired

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • This role requires 25% travel
  • Safety apparel (PPE) and uniform mandatory when Plant side.
  • Work daily assigned shift to include overtime, up to and including production Saturdays, shutdown days, and holidays as needed.
  • Follow all company policies including ISO 9001 2008/ISO 14000 and QOS adherence (where applicable) and MAI Companies? (GLA, GSA, IA) Associate Handbook and Safety Manual.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibility

QUALIFICATION (EDUCATION / TRAINING):

  • Bachelor?s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 5 ? 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, assembly, automation, or fabrication)
  • Experience in training delivery, coaching, or technical instruction
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
