Location: Kansas City, MO

Pay Rate: $15/hour

As a Store Sales Associate I, you'll play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience, supporting donation processing, and maintaining an organized, mission-driven thrift store.

Key Responsibilities

Store Sales Associate I

  • Provide excellent customer service and represent The Salvation Army's mission and values

  • Greet donors and shoppers warmly and assist with transactions at the register

  • Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system and handle all cash transactions accurately

  • Open, close, and balance cash drawers per TSA cash handling policies

  • Maintain a clean and organized store by restocking, straightening racks, and cleaning work areas

  • Ensure merchandise is displayed properly and replenished regularly

  • Follow all policies regarding the sale of donated goods

  • Work collaboratively with team members and store management

  • Support store productivity benchmarks and contribute to sales goals

  • Be available for flexible scheduling, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays


Qualifications

Store Sales Associate I

  • High school diploma or currently pursuing one

  • Retail, customer service, or cashiering experience preferred

  • Basic computer and cash-handling skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally team lift up to 100 lbs

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a store environment that may be dusty or experience temperature changes
