We are looking for an experienced and passionate Associate Producer/Writer to join our team in New York. In this role, you will be part of a strong and flexible team producing fast-paced news programming on weekdays and weekends. You will write and produce content for our highly rated branded shows and support wall-to-wall breaking news coverage as events unfold. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with anchors and multiple production teams, while providing a strong career path for Associate Producers looking to grow into line producer roles. Flexibility is essential for this role, as schedules may vary based on production needs.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write and produce content for two or more daily news programs

  • Write scripts, teases, and copy for broadcasts

  • Produce live shots and guest segments

  • Collaborate with producers and control room staff during live broadcasts

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience

  • Experience in a national or large market local newsroom

  • Excellent writing, producing, and communication skills

  • Solid news judgment and an outstanding grasp of politics, history, geography, and current events

  • Ability to write in a clear, engaging, and conversational style that makes news stories accessible, compelling, and relevant to viewers.

  • Substantial control room and breaking news experience

  • Strong team player who can work under tight deadlines and adapt quickly to breaking news and changing priorities

  • Flexibility to work daytime and weekend shifts

  • Ability to spot the best part of a story and make it matter to a national audience

  • Creativity and "outside the box" thinking

This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
