Software Engineer-Secure Networks & Protocols (Associate or Experienced)

The Boeing Company is currently hiring Software Engineers - Secure Networks & Protocols (Associate or Experienced) to join the Training Systems Software team located in Oklahoma City, OK. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services (BGS) Software Engineering organization.

As a Software Engineer - Secure Network & Protocols, you will focus on solutions such as the integration of software built in KC-46 labs in Seattle into Tinker AFB labs as part of the KC-46 Software Sustainment Organic Capability Standup (SSOCS). The software engineers will assess current software architecture, documentation, and environments for a seamless transition of upgrade and integration into new lab facilities located at Tinker AFB Software Engineering Group (SWEG).

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Experienced Level Software Engineers.


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

  • Supports the design, development, architecture, and maintenance of software solutions for network stack protocol software

  • Assists with providing input on secure network and protocols throughout the end-to-end lifecycle development of software products

  • Maintains and updates code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system

  • Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

  • Supports software project management and software supplier management functions

  • Performs software research and trade studies

  • Troubleshoot software issues

  • Integrate commercial and Boeing developed software into Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux operating systems

  • Scripting to support application of security settings on Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux platforms

  • Implement and test software/systems using a variety of technologies to include scripting to support automated testing

  • Networking and support of Ethernet and Fiber Channel networks

  • Storage Area Network and Network Attached Storage administration

  • Works under general supervision


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 2+ years of experience in Object Oriented Design and Programming

  • 1+ years of experience with networks and network communication protocols (VLAN, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, etc.)

  • 1+ years of experience in software systems integration

  • Experience with Linux/Unix software development environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Level 3: 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with engineering of large-scale systems and overall systems engineering disciplines

  • 2+ years of experience computing administration to include managing Microsoft active directory design, deploy and operational support

  • 1+ years of experience using PowerShell

  • Experience working with engineering and technical data for KC-46, VC-25B, P8 or Commercial 767, 747, 737 or comparable commercial derivative aircraft platform

  • Experience developing training/simulation systems

  • Experience with agile workflow tools such as JIRA

  • A collaborative team player with a transformative mindset that takes the initiative, while driving quality and technical excellence
