Your role at a glance
The Associate Design Manager supports the Global Infrastructure Development team by assisting in the design and documentation of data center projects. This position provides exposure to architectural and engineering design coordination in a fast-paced, technical environment.
This position works closely with the Design Managers and external consultants to support the production and organization of design documents, assist in project coordination, and help ensure design consistency across multiple data center projects.
The Associate Design Manager is responsible for supporting design development as well as the production of construction documents and specifications. This effort involves coordination between NTT GDC Americas, Inc. experts and outside consultants including structural, mechanical, electrical, and Civil Engineers and Landscape Architects.
This position is also responsible for supporting the management of consultant contracts. Their duties will also extend to non-technical, or accounting tasks related to the delivery of the work.
The Associate Design Manager requires a creative, detail-oriented problem solver with excellent communication skills that can achieve high quality standards while carefully considering cost and feasibility factors. This position requires good judgment to meet project objectives, with the ability to collaborate and manage the accountabilities of a diverse interdisciplinary team focused on creating and maintaining the best Data Center environments in our industry.
What we are looking for
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with preparation and organization of Architectural and Engineering (A/E) documentation.
  • Support the review and coordination of design drawings and specifications.
  • Help track project design schedules, deliverables, and documentation workflows.
  • Coordinate internal and consultant meetings and document key action items and design decisions.
  • Provide administrative support for consultant contracts, scopes of work, and invoices.
  • Maintain accurate project files and documentation on shared platforms.
  • Assist with research and preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and consultant selections.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) efforts by tracking document revisions.
  • Communicate with project teams to ensure accurate information exchange between design and construction groups.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with cross-functional teams (construction, procurement, operations).
  • Assist in preparing presentation materials and reports for management review.
  • Gain familiarity with company design standards and help document lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • All aspects of the design should be overseen / approved by the appropriate team, especially when exceptions/changes are proposed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Basic understanding of architectural and engineering design processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Autocad/Autodesk, Revit and/or other BIM or design software is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented with an eagerness to learn.
  • Interest in data center design, building systems, or related infrastructure.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in design, construction, or related industries.
  • Previous experience with data centers, critical facilities, or large-scale infrastructure is desired.
  • PMP or related certifications not required, but future development encouraged.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Primarily stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Close visual work on a computer.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • This position is considered remote with a reliable internet connection.
  • Some work in a Data Center construction and operating environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.
  • Some travel (~25%) to support due diligence, design, and construction of data centers properties across the US.

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $81,000 - $115,700.
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
Employees receive paid time-off, medical, dental, and vision benefits, life and supplemental insurance, short-term and long-term disability, flexible spending account, and 401k retirement plan to create a rich Total Rewards package.
