Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (Open to CEHS and CEHS/IANR Faculty Only)

The University of Nebraska’s College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) is one of nine colleges at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a comprehensive, land grant, Big10 research-intensive university. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs has leadership and administrative responsibilities focused on undergraduate and graduate curriculum, program evaluation, innovative pedagogy that prepares graduates to be lifelong learners and contributors to the workforce, and creating a climate that emphasizes and fosters a welcoming and engaged college community. This will be an Academic Year (AY) or Fiscal Year (FY) appointment, at up to 0.70 FTE apportioned as 100% administration, and supported with an administrative stipend up to $15,000 and summer salary (AY only). There would be at least a 0.30 FTE faculty position with a negotiable apportionment in the faculty member’s department home.
Responsibilities
Why this role, why now.
This position is critical for the success of the college, particularly as it pertains to the national accreditation and state certification requirements for our educator preparation programs. We also have several nationally accredited programs across the college – each of our five departments has at least one accredited program. The need for this position certainly extends beyond accreditation. Improving the student experience, both in and out of the classroom, is a priority given the current importance of attracting and retaining students in our challenging budget climate. This position will also be important to help us strengthen and develop new enrollment pathways, including community colleges and online initiatives.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in discipline aligned with area of expertise.
- Appointment in CEHS as a tenured faculty or Professor of Practice at the rank of Associate or higher.
- Successful record of teaching, scholarship, and mentorship of students at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Leadership experience with curriculum development, modern assessment practices, P-12 school engagement, and/or program accreditation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Appointment in CEHS as a tenured Full Professor or Full Professor of Practice.
- Experience with formal program evaluation.
- Familiarity with formal education programs and practices that create a learning environment where all students, regardless of background, can thrive.
- Demonstration of management and leadership abilities to foster a culture of interdisciplinary and innovative academic programs.
