Position Summary:
The Community Mental Health Support Specialist serves as an advocate and support coordinator for individuals living with mental illness. This role is responsible for providing direct client support, engaging in therapeutic and skill-building activities, and connecting clients with essential resources to help reduce symptoms, prevent crises, and promote overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as an advocate for clients and coordinate community-based support programs
  • Provide crisis intervention services to help reduce behavioral symptoms and prevent hospitalization or incarceration
  • Deliver case management services by linking clients with appropriate community resources
  • Engage in therapeutic, educational, and skill-building activities with clients
  • Facilitate behavioral health groups, independent living skill sessions, and support programs
  • Provide one-on-one coaching in practical living skills such as nutrition, budgeting, and self-care
  • Accompany clients to appointments, community events, and outings as needed
  • Monitor school and home environments when necessary to ensure stability and safety
