Job description

DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, The CNA supports the continuum of care by providing basic care and assistance with daily activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures such as EKG. Participates in basic medical records coding and monitoring of quality assurance such as chart audits. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies. Provides basic patient inventory management.

Assists with patients transport to other units, and procedural areas. Delivers laboratory specimens to lab, and blood products to the unit. Assists with CPR during Code Blue. Cross trains to the role of Hospital Unit Secretary and Environmental Care Partner. The position requires initiative, ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Participates in team environment, including training and evaluation of peers, scheduling of work, and assisting with administrative function of unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must possess a valid California CNA Certificate.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • One year recent acute care CNA experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal.

  • Must have ability to function in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, while demonstrating professionalism, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must be able to navigating multiple competing priorities. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.

  • Ability to at all times adhere to UCSD Health Medical Center (C.A.R.I.N.G.) Standards of Performance, and demonstrate the characteristics of professionalism in attire, attitude, conversation, behavior and attentiveness to others.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to build collaboration, encourage teamwork, and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous acute care experience.
  • Previous ICU experience.
  • PCIS, UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology or certificate of medical terminology training.
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $65,396 - $65,396 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $31.32 - $31.32

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
