Job Summary:

The Assistant Operations Manager - Ohio will work with the operations management team to establish and implement short and long-range objectives for the assigned department(s), oversee related functions and activities, and administer company policies and procedures.

Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
  • Assists in the hiring and training of new staff.
  • As requested by operations management, conducts or assists with performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Assists the Operations Manager with employment actions, including discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by ensuring all equipment is properly maintained, serviced and/or removed from service. Equipment includes but is not limited to, material handling equipment, racking/shelving, lighting and other equipment used by the operations team.
  • Provides appropriate equipment and racking to ensure safe transport and storage of all materials.
  • Monitors departmental performance, identifying and facilitating opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Analyzes and executes on KPIs established by Executive Management
  • Collaborates with other team members to plan, direct, and coordinate programs and projects.
  • Collaborates with other team members to analyze costs, benefits, and losses of company profits.
  • Drafts, submits, and presents various performance and management reports.
  • Manages inventory, approving or facilitating purchases as needed while verifying costs and receipts.
  • Manages conflicts and resolves complaints about or within the department.
  • Monitors the unloading of all materials into the receiving department; ensure materials are staged for counting and inspection.
  • Ensures receiving reports accurately reports material received.
  • Resolves discrepancies regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports.
  • Monitors the flow of paperwork from receiving to inventory control for timely data entry. Oversees the movement of material from receiving to the warehouse in an efficient, effective, and safe manner.
  • Assists with the planning, development, and implementation of warehouse safety and security programs and activities.
  • Operate machinery and equipment while adhering to safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as eye protection, steel-toed boots, safety hat, and gloves-Cut level 3 (A3).
  • Reports injuries and emergencies to management immediately, according to Company policy.
  • Follows all opening and closing procedures to ensure buildings are secured properly.
  • Leads by example. Collaborates and communicates effectively with company management and employees to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Participates in job-related training and continuing education.
  • Participates in fostering an organizational culture that values innovation, promotes inclusion, and inspires excellence in the work environment.
  • Maintains punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
  • Protects and maintains confidentiality of company trade secrets and other confidential and proprietary information including, without limitation, operations methods, customer information and sales data.
  • Completes projects and assignments on time.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Must have valid drivers' license in state of residence.
  • Able to operate a forklift.
  • Able to travel with 72-hours notice.
  • Frequent travel between branches; some out of state travel required (30%).
  • Able to work before and after regular business hours and weekends, as needed.
  • Must be able to be on the company vehicle insurance and have an OSHA 10, OSHA 30 preferred

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of related experience in the industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of the philosophy, mission, leadership, and planning needs of the organization preferred.

Salary: $61,500 - $79,000 based on experience plus discretionary annual bonus
