Job Description
The Project Engineer III is an intermediate engineering position responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing moderately complex technical and programmatic activities required to deliver engineering scope in support of project and program objectives, with growing independence. This role works across multidisciplinary teams to help ensure technical work products, schedules, interfaces, deliverables, and engineering execution activities are aligned with project requirements, business objectives, and applicable quality and regulatory standards. The Project Engineer III contributes to technical integration, supports resolution of moderately complex issues, and assists in guiding project execution strategy with moderate latitude for independent judgment.
  • Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute moderately complex engineering scope in alignment with project objectives, schedules, budgets, and deliverable requirements, under the general guidance of senior engineers.
  • Provide technical inputs and support coordination of activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams and cross-functional partners, including project controls, licensing, supply chain, quality, safety, manufacturing, testing, operations, and construction.
  • Support resolution of moderately complex technical, programmatic, interface, and execution issues affecting scope, schedule, quality, and delivery performance for assigned scope, escalating highly complex issues to senior engineers.
  • Support and contribute to project engineering priorities, execution strategies, and integration plans to support timely and high-quality delivery of engineering work products.
  • Track engineering deliverables, interfaces, action items, decisions, assumptions, and technical issues for assigned scope to support disciplined project execution.
  • Support identification of technical, schedule, cost, and execution risks for assigned scope; assist in developing mitigation strategies; and support closure of routine issues in partnership with project and functional leadership.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to help ensure technical requirements, deliverable expectations, design interfaces, and execution dependencies are understood and managed for assigned scope.
  • Support integration of assigned engineering work products into broader project execution plans and help ensure alignment with contractual, programmatic, customer, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in and help coordinate technical reviews, design reviews, status reviews, readiness reviews, and cross-functional planning activities for assigned scope to support decision-making and issue resolution.
  • Support development and maintenance of project engineering documentation for assigned scope, including engineering plans, interface management documentation, decision logs, risk registers, action tracking tools, and execution metrics.
  • Support and contribute to make/buy decisions, supplier technical coordination, subcontractor interfaces, and external partner execution activities as assigned.
  • Ensure activities are performed in accordance with applicable company processes, procedures, quality requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Actively support the safety culture and ensure integration of quality in all relevant processes by complying with the requirements of the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Provide feedback and informal guidance to less experienced team members, sharing knowledge related to project engineering best practices, execution standards, and integration methodologies, under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Continue developing subject matter expertise in project engineering execution and contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery processes, tools, and standards.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Typically, five to eight years of engineering, project engineering, technical program management, or related experience in the energy, nuclear, petrochemical, or high-technology hardware or software system development industry.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting moderately complex technical scope and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities in a project-based environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting project execution activities, assisting with resolution of moderately complex cross-functional issues, and contributing to delivery across assigned project scope.
  • Working to strong knowledge of engineering design processes, project execution practices, interface management, schedule coordination, and technical documentation control.
  • Experience supporting projects in a regulated environment, including familiarity with quality assurance requirements, configuration management, and controlled technical deliverables.
  • Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities within assigned scope.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation
As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.
Offers within the posted salary range are commensurate with the individual's qualifications for the position, along with a view on internal equity, market data, and room for growth. The salary range for this position is:
Level II: $90,000 to $115,000 / Level III: $110,000 to $135,000 / Level IV: $140,000 to $165,000
